BTW the 1st full sized motorcycle I ever rode was my uncle's Bultaco Alpina.   Looked something like this as I recall:

Umm, yes, they sold Morinis back in the '70s and '80s. Sweet and simple bikes that suffered the usual electrical foibles of Italian bikes of that and previous eras.

BIKE magazine is reporting that Moto Morini angrily denied reports of their demise.

Apparently, they are still making bikes as they are ordered.

Still hanging in there then. I hope they survive the economic slump

Moto Morini is coming to auction on 4/13/2011.  Bids to start at nearly $7.5 million USD.  Let's hope they find a good buyer that can allow the company to continue.

It's not like I have 7.5 million in loose change hidden in the sofa but...DANG   that sounds cheap for an entire company.

I agree, Orson.  Very inexpensive, but likely burdened with debt.

They are wanting to reopen the factory to assemble the leftover parts into bikes, to help cover their debt.  "Re-opened factory will re-assemble 16 Scamblers and 29 Granpasso’s and try to sell them for €6,300 – €7,100 ($8,500 – $9,600)."

I watched press release of the 87 degree twin - tidbits about what made it tick. Friggin shame the Sport 1200 never made it stateside. Output was stout, a looker and had the cool hardware as well.

It made the Ducati Testesretta ,somewhat , unnecessary

I wonder what went so wrong .  Imagine Granpasso's here in the states for 13k - i believe they would have sold.

I agree it was a shame these new ones weren't imported, mountainmotor.  The Sport 1200, the Scramber 1200, Corsarro, and the Gran Paso were all very attractive bikes.

Maybe Piaggio or anther brand will snatch them up, infuse them with money, and import them here.  Ah well, we can dream.

Moto Morini has been SOLD!  Two entrepreneurs have bought it up at auction, creating a new company called "Eagle Bike." Interestingly the MM manufacturing facilities were NOT bought as part of this deal.  What does that mean?
