My local dealer has a 2009 FZ1 that they quoted $9100 OTD with $2,500 for my 2001 FZ1 trade in. Does this seem on par with other places? Another dealer in Columbus GA has a left over '07 Raven for $7,800 +TTT. Just curious to see if I need to shop around a bit.

You're saying 9100 *after* the $2500 for your trade?

Seems kinda high, IMO.

+1  Although, $2500 seems like a pretty good amount to get for a trade on an 01 FZ1, in December, in this economy.

$10,290 for 2010.

Thank you.

In that case, they are trying to make it look like they are giving you a good deal on the trade-in but making it up with the price of the bike.
They can do better.
I think they would take $9100-$9500 + tax for the bike so with the trade-in, you're getting a little screwed.
Just my .02.

The price would be $9,100 - $2,500. So that would be $6,400 + my 2001.

Ah, there ya go. that's better.

Yeah, that's not bad. There are examples of those bikes available cheaper if you look around, but I don't think they're hitting you over the head, either, considering (as mentioned) economy and time of year.

Oh, I misunderstood.  In that case, I think they are wanting to sell you a bike and as your spiritual advisor, I say buy it. Smile

plus one.  there's not much difference between the 07 and 2009 models anyway, so you still get a new bike for a lot less money.  then again, they may not give you anything for a trade in towards a leftover 07

I always try to get the latest version I can, regardless of how similar they are because bikes tend to depreciate $800-$1000 per year over a 4-6 year period.  This is important if you want to sell a few years down the road.  Using this logic, an '07 model should cost aprox 2k less than an '09.

Depends on how often you trade, in any event the Raven will have a higher resale plus you get to look cooler riding it.

Maybe I should just keep my trusty '01 and see how long she'll last.

Depending on the mileage of your bike, you could put a couple of grand into it, make it feel like new again, and save a pile of money.

If you can afford a new bike now, I would take this deal! The new ones are much better looking, imo, and have much more potential than then the "01. It's a very deccent price.

The '09 is a completely different motorcycle.  I suppose we could all hang on to our bikes and see how long they will last but what fun is that?  Do you wnat to turn in to a garden variety STN'er?  You know, the type of guy who never buys a bike and bitches about how the mfg's never build what they should? Shrug
$6400 is nothing.  I think my January AMEX bill will be more than that. Bigsmile

Pretty fun with my Blackbird.  Classic good looks and plenty of power.  And some good memories.

If I saw an 09 for $9,000 and a good, clean, low mileage 01 for $2500, I'd be tempted to buy the 01.
Positives for the 01-bigger tank, same amount of mid range grunt, money in the bank.
Negative-01 not fuel injected and a little more of a "Plain Jane".  Ian, Iowa
