Hi all. Yep, I'm new to THIS forum.

At any rate, I would like to start a Sunday morning riding group here in Rogers, AR. If you live within a reasonable distance from Rogers/ Fayetteville or just passing through this part of the state, by all means come join the group.

We will keep the riding style nice and easy until everyone is comfortable with each others style. If we get a good number of riders we can split the group up based on riding style. NO asshat squids need apply!

The plan is to ride year round, and meet at a set location EVERY Sunday at 9:30 AM. We would vary the route every Sunday which should not be a problem since there are a ton of roads around here.

As for riding in bad weather, I don't mind riding in light rain or if its cold. IF the weather is bad, ie constant rain, extreme cold, snow, ice, etc, then we will skip a Sunday based on the forecast on Saturday night. Just check back on here for cancellations or delayed start times.

SO - who wants to ride?

WHEN: Send me a Private Message!

WHERE: Meet in the Wal-Mart parking lot on I-540 exit 81 (Pleasant Grove Road - can't miss it.)

The length of the ride will change depending on where we go but in most cases I would like to be able to get back home around 2 or 3 PM at the latest on Sunday afternoons. Yes, we will find interesting places to eat lunch.

Even if no one shows up until Spring, I will be at the Wal-Mart regardless if anyone wants to ride every Sunday unless I post here otherwise.

See you there! (hopefully)

I sincerly hope this takes off. I tried starting something here myself after moving to Springfield two years ago but got shut out. The only people I know who've had success are arkansawyer and rocketbunny. I think what keeps more group rides from happening here are the wide ranges of ability and risk acceptance levels.

I've often wondered if a lunch Meet 'n Greet would be the way to go. That way, everyone can get there however they want and not feel pressured to keep up or hold themselves back in a group. What would be awesome would be an overnighter in some cool place like Jasper!

Hey - thanks for the links and info. I think you are right. There is a diverse range of riding skills around here and I know when I started out, I didn't like trying to keep up with some groups.
At any rate, this is such a prime riding area I just had to put the offer out there. I will be at the meeting location no matter what unless I post on here otherwise.

Do you know Fred in Jasper? He is a bike nut!!! He runs the Bus garage for the school system. I had the pleasure of meeting him earlier in the year. He's a great guy. Just curious...

I haven't had the pleasure of meeting Fred yet. I'm thru Jasper quit often during riding season, usually on my way to 123. My wife and I stayed overnight there a couple summers ago while canoeing the Buffalo and had a great time. I just like that little town.

It seems like the riders here are scattered throughout the Ozarks rather than being located in one spot. It'd be cool if we could find a central location we could all meet. To me, Jasper's location is an epic center of prime roads. I bet if we wait until we get a good Sunday forecast, say high of 60+, and tell everybody to meet at the Ozark Cafe at noon we'd get some takers.

OK - I can do that at the Ozark Cafe. What I can do is get my people together, if any at all here in Rogers, and ride up to the Ozark Cafe and have lunch and split into groups or whatever.

I don't have anything to lose if just organizing a gathering point here in Rogers and making the trip up that way.

Try posting over at Triumphrat, as well.  There's a few folks from up in the Fayetteville area that are avid riders.  I've ridden with VR6 (Dave) from that board a few times, and he's usually up for a ride.

Well - it looks like I have found some folks to ride with so I am gonna put the 9:30 meet up time on hold for now since it is a bit early this time of year. If anyone is intersted in meeting at 9:30, just send me a private message.

Thanks!

i might be interested in joining you all sometime. i'm very much a newbie though. although i've had a motorcycle license for 30+ years, i actually have very little time on the street. i've been mostly racing motocross for the last twenty years (still do). i've never tried any performance-street riding and i'm not particularly interested in it either. i just like to go exploring and sight-seeing. if you want to leave me behind, then that's exactly what you are going to do. so if you have a place for me, keep me informed.

for the record, i live about fifty miles west of the arkansas line, a few miles north of 412.

Keep checking back on this thread!  I don't have a problem with a new rider just as long as we can agree on a route and have several meeting places along the way.

It would be fun meeting up with you guys, but I'm a couple of hours away in Conway. Maybe I could PM you on a free Sunday to meet up with you guys.
