August 3-6, 2007

OK, folks, mark your calendars for SNOT 2 (Which stands, as you know, for Somewhere North Of Toronto.

What: A gathering featuring great (and new) friends, wonderful roads, good food and what’s needed to post on the I’m drink thread. Heck, it worked last year, so let's do it again!

Where: At Corbeau’s in Ottawa, which is Somewhere Northeast Of Toronto

Who: ST-Ners, comprised of Crazy Canucks, French-Canadians and our Yankee neighbours.

When: August 3-6, 2007, which is a long weekend in Ontario. Ride up on Saturday for a supper at SNOT-Central, day rides on Sunday followed by a BBQ, also in Corbeau’s backyard. Early bird special: Those riding to Ottawa on Friday can get Saturday morning a breakfast created by Ms. Corbeau  Helen and enjoy twice as many day rides.

Why: Because All your roads are belong to us

***

Other details:

Riding: From SNOT-Central, one can ride West to the mystical Calabogie area, North to the land of Poutine in the Laurentians, South to the Adirondacks or East to the flat farmland if you’re into counting Holsteins for kicks.

Accomodation: SNOT-Central has room for a couple of tents. Inside SNOT-Central, there is room for more than half a dozen ST-Ners, although four of them will be spooning, two by two. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. Couples will have priority on those two beds. I can't garantee that the 2nd bathroom will be built in the basement in time. The widow next door has offered her spare couches and beds, if needed.

Three notes:

I’ll update this post, so check it once in a while.

Count me in as well.   Thumbsup

Not sure whether or not I'll have a lovely riding partner or not but I'll be there at least.

Corbeau, if SNOT central fills up, is there a local hotel?  Thanks.

R Doug... Since you've showed early interest, your spot in SNOT-Central is pretty much garanteed!

canban, I think the "Revelstoked" thing was just a pipe dream... I was overqualified like crazy for that job, and the pay was acceptable only for a fresh community college graduate, 20 y.o. who wouldn't mind eating Kraft Dinner for a couple more years...

I don't have any firm riding plans for this year and I am not commiting but this is something I could do without using much vacation time.  It's a long weekend for me too.   Thumbsup   I'll have to think about it.   Headscratch

It's official, I'm in.

So far, I scheduled Fri - Mon off work.  But, that will only get me there and back (two days up and two days back) if I take the scenic way, which I'll do.

It may behoove me to plan on adding a day so I can have either Saturday or Sunday for a good long ride on your local roads (north perhaps?).

Either way, I look forward to making new Canadian friends.   My neighbour and very good friend is from Toronto, so... I'm cool w/ you cats.   Lol

Since we are discussing routes, I'm not sure if one isn't better off crossing into Ontario at the other end of Lake Ontario coming from Dougs place, although he could make a loop with crossings at each end.Lets discuss further.

Fred, you're right..given my druthers I'd cut accross NY to Watertown and cross there, avoiding both the golden horseshoe wasted miles, and the abominable GTA traffic.

Sarchi, I would love to stop by your place and say "hi."  I would also like to stop by the Newmarket area to visit my neighbor's brother Paul who's a high school teacher there.

But, James and I discussed the following route up where we plan to stop somewhere along Lake Ontario at a B&B for a night's rest on the way up.  We believe it's a bit more direct.

Hi J.F.

I have started a new job so I will have to see what holidays for August are booked.
I will check the schedule at work to see if I am off that weekend, if so I am in.
If you are in the area, and you want to drop in, I am now at George's Marine and Sports on Carp Rd as the new Parts Manager.

Dave.
