Update

R. Doug got the information that he initially needed from this poll. Therefore, this thread will no longer be monitored. Anything you say here will be considered silly and unimportant  Bigsmile

--- Mod.

**********************************************************

Well, it's time to get the ball rolling on this.  I need to contact the hotel to attempt to get a block of rooms set aside or at least set up a group rate with a deadline for each person attending to call in and get their room.

Before I contact the hotel, I would prefer to have a feel of who's how many are going.

Please vote and announce your intentions at this time.  This poll will be up for 40 days before it expires.  You may change your vote at anytime during the duration of the poll.

If you have no idea what you're voting on attending, click this blue text for information.  Yes, right here on this blue text.  Just click it with your mouse cursor.

I just contacted the Inn and they are in the midst of becoming a Quality Inn. The woman I spoke to had no info on rates yet for the summer season. She did acknowledge that one member of the group of which I spoke had just made a reservation. My guess is Flyer.

Im curious, will a rep from ST.N be contacting the Inn for a group rate?

I am definatly looking forward to the adventure.

Doug: I posted the name and contact info of the manager in the Brier Inn thread.

I probably won't be attending the National even though it's only a short day ride away. The mid-week nature of the meet means burning more vacation days than I can afford. Maybe I can work out a little comp time with the boss at work, but at this point, I can only afford to do 3-day weekends in 2010 (only 5 moto days to work with all year) in order to maximize trip length versus vacation days used.

By some incredible fluke, I have that week as vacation.  The wife has already given her blessing too, so while it's still a long way off and anything can happen, I plan on attending.

I want to go.  It is going to depend on my work schedule, which I can't predict right now.  Hopefully I'll have a mild March and April, so that I can get things done early and quickly.  Then June would be free and open for travel.

Man, after spending time at the Brier in Lewisburg in 08 it really hurt to click on 'Darn, can't make it'.  The week following the National is the Canadian FJR meet at Mont Tremblant, and I'm leaving that meet to head out to the East Coast (Cabot). I don't think theirs anyway I can swing that much time off.

I rode Tennessee this year, and I still like WV by a long shot! TN has some spectacular roads, but getting to them is no different than anywhere else. WV *ALL* the damn roads are great everywhere!

Quebec isn't flat or straight.... I have been to WV several times and enjoy going back everytime I do.  This is just in the timing.... It's do-able to do both... It's just when the company is dropping in.

Although that was the plan last year and at the last minute I was able to find some great members here that let me split the cost of the rooms with them.  Cool

Well, if I skip the weekend the wife is planning in New York for her 50th birthday, I can come.

And then I could go to lots more rallies because I'd be single again!

To be honest, she probably wouldn't if she hadn't already booked rooms and invited friends for the party.

Did you remind her that she just had a birthday last year?   Lol

I'll bring that up.   Lol  Besides, I like sleeping on the couch. It's comfy and you don't hear the dogs snore. They're in our room.

Ah, I'll get the stars aligned one of these years. I seem to make it to other rallies. I'm just on a bad luck scheduling streak with STN.

ok, so i'm planning on it... i'm right now on google earth planning a route.
(i've never been to that part of the country)
looks like i'll slab it from SA to Memphis (spend the night), and from there on 40 to Knoxville, then 81, make a left on 77 and then a right on 64 to Lewisburg...
is there a more intersting way to get to Lewisburg from Knoxville? or is it pretty much a decent ride...
i was thinking on droping over to deals gap from Knoxville in my way (out of curiosity more than anything), is it worth it? (but i on't wan't to burn a whole day just by doing that)...in other words, seems to be about 300miles from
knoxville to Lewisburg, but if the secondary roads are too slow, i might as well make that ride worth while...

any suggestions?

I remember meeting this guy 'reaper' at last years national, he's in Memphis...(maybe we tag along from there)

Reaper, where are you?

I just booked my room for the 11th - 16th.  I'm going to call Jo (manager) this weekend to confirm a discount for us and set up a code we can use when calling in.  I asked for John (the guy Garry posted about earlier) but I was directed to speak with Jo.

Chris, who did you talk to in order to get a discount?

Whoever answered the phone. It was a woman. Didn't catch her name.

"Hi. I'm calling to reserve a room. Question, first... you're honoring the group rate for Sport-touring dot net, right?"

"One moment..." [click, click, shuffle, click] "Yes sir, it's a 5 percent discount."

"Thanks. Ok, I need to reserve for...." and so forth.

They have it written down or "in the system".

I specifically said "group rate for sport touring dot net" and she came back with "yes, we have a group rate for sport touring".

Doug, you're bunking in there early, huh?

Thanks for the reply.  I'll talk to the manager because the lady I spoke to said she didn't see anything set up for sport-touring.net.  There appears to be a communication problem on their end.

I am getting there early.  I have a lot of day loops I want to do from the area from Sat. - Tues.   Bigok

I'll be calling the hotel soon now that we have a very good feel of a possible head count.  Some folks are already getting discounts by mentioning STN while  others (like me) are left at regular room rates.

Once I can establish an official group discount code, I'll post up the details.

Looks like the stars are aligning and I'll likely be able to make this. This will probably be part of the last official father-daughter activity before she flies the coop so it's doubly exciting for me. We'll ride down the Friday prior to Greer, SC so we can particiate in BMW Perfomance Driving School's Car Control clinic on 6/14 and 6/15 then ride up to this shindig. I'll know for sure by mid-February.

Would anybody thinking of going down early ( Sat? ) be interested in sharing a room to save some money?

It looks like I'm on my own for this trip and I would like to split the room costs in order to get a few extra days in Lewisburg. Hopefully I'll get to ride some of R Doug's routes.

  I'm not fussy, prefer a non-smoker.

I'd be leaving ( return trip home ) early Thurs. AM

Just made reservation with Jo. 5% discount for 6/14--6/16. No problems, just mention STN. Now what rides to make. Know the area a little bit. Used to do a lot of caving in WV. Can' wait to meet everyone.

I'd be down for that. I smoke, but do it outside only. Same here, non fussy single rider.

Can you edit the first post and put it in there so it's not hidden?  Or maybe just start a new thread with the announcement of the discount code?

We'll get name tags made up that will have people's real and screen names on them.  As Paul said, you can ignore them in person as you do on STN.

If the people who are ignoring you on STN are true to themselves, they should avoid you in person.   Therefore, no extra effort will be required for you to avoid them.   Lol

I'm looking to split a room, too. My previous roomy has become non-committal due to work.
I was hoping to find someone to split room costs which would allow me to extend my stay.
I could arrive as early as Saturday and stay through Wednesday evening. I need to leave
for home on Thursday morning.
Five nights split would cost less than three night alone. If anyone is interested, let me know.
As I've said before, I'm not fussy but prefer a non-smoker.
And FWIW, I snore so earplugs are advised.  Lol

On another note, my wife and I will also not be attending, contrary to previously held beliefs.  Sadly, the addition on the house is likely to be happening right at the same time.  Happily though, said addition includes a large garage and bike cave.

Frost is out now, I think.  People up the street are building a house and have the hole dug already.  I am waiting for drawings so I can get permits so I can start.  Stupid draftsman we had screwed us up and now we are behind about a month.  Oh well, more riding and garage dreaming while we wait.  The weather here is awesome.
