Benelli TRE889K...Another Bike North America Can't Get

That's right, we're a bitter lot! It's another versatile, seemingly affordable, and damn fine looking multi-purpose bike that is unavailable in North America. Motorcyclistonline.com has a first ride article for all to read...and get us even more reason to be bitter about import choices by manufacturers.
The downsized Tre-K has some legitimate long-distance credentials, too. It's based on the Tre1130K and uses the same aluminum and steel frame, relaxed steering geometry, ample suspension travel and half fairing. The motor is a mildly detuned version of the TNT's 898cc, liquid-cooled unit. New camshafts and injection mapping help boost low-rev grunt and broaden the powerband, but reduce peak output from 120 bhp to a claimed 106 bhp at 10,000 rpm.
All instruments are well placed and easy to read. The raised, one-piece bar has a pleasant bend and an agreeable width. The most appreciated design feature is the three-position windscreen, which is easily adjusted to accommodate differing rider heights or weather conditions. Benelli claims the 899K's touring ability is enhanced by its retuned, cleaner-burning engine, giving it significantly better fuel economy than the thirsty TNT899. A large, 5.5-gallon fuel load helps, too.

Yes, the odd-ball Amazonas and Tre didn't sell very well here due to the handfull dealers and exotica price points, so Benelli will show us by not bringing a bike that could possible sell like hotcakes if they build up their network and it were priced within sighting distance of compeditors.
Yeah, that will teach us.

Me, too! I love this bike along with several other Benellis. If they were true Italian bikes or even majority European assembled in Italy I would happily replace my Ducati with one. But, a chinese bike at euro prices? No, thanks!

Repeat after me: Its. Not. Chinese.
The company is owned by a Chinese company (ie: they get their operating capital from and profits (such as they are) go to the parent corp.) , but the bikes are designed and built in Italy by the same people who always have. Components are, then you will find Chinese compnents on just about everything else too.

Last I heard, the factory is still in Italy.
That doesn't mean the technology might not start appearing in Chinese bikes
Just like Suzuki did to MZ.

No, you have it backwards. It's like saying Monica Bellucci looks like Roseanne Barr, but sexy.

To each his own... to me the V-Strom, while interesting, is rather bloated and cheep looking (Roseanne Barr) and Monica Bellucci is... well she is all things Italian (Benelli TRE).

The only thing that Roseanne Barr has in common with Monica Bellucci is that they are both brunettes

Split the difference: Candye Kane.
Kinda like Roseanne, but sexier. And funnier.
