My brake story is very similar to what i've been reading from a lot of you until now.

Bought the bike in Oct 2005, it now has 7500 miles on it. I rode all last year and my front brakes got progressively squishy over the months. Took it in to the dealer in Feb and they promptly completed the master cylinder replace under warranty.

(This is where the similar part ends)
I got my bike back and was happy with how much firmer the brakes are now. The problem is at 60 mph+ when I use the brakes there is now a huge amount of front end vibration. My arms shake, my mirror shake. it's a bad feeling.

I took it back into the dealer and described the issue. A mechanic took it right out for a ride, came in and said "yeah, something isnt right with your brakes"

Apparently one of my front rotors is "thin" and has a slight "wobble" to it, but per Triumph is still technically with in specs. The dealer has offered to replace the rotor at my expense.

At this point im fairly livid. The bike is 16 months old and still with in warrantly. It clearly has a problem with in specs or not.

Has anyone else come across this situation? Am i right in expecting it to be corrected under warranty? How can a rotor wear out before the pads even do?

Please let me know your thoughts.

I have an '05 non ABS Sprint ST and I experienced the same problem, this was around 15,000 miles, the only diffference is my dealer said that my rotors were warped and my service manager had Triumph replace them. Good luck to you.

I'd call Triumph USA direct, if your dealer won't work with you.  And be very nice and polite, as hard as that may be.

It sounds to me like you've got a real issue that they should take care of.

This really drives home the dealer issue, it's to bad that some folks have such bad experiences with their bikes (any bike) because of poor dealer support. Brakes? They wouldn't go to bat for you on bad brakes?

They did finally go to bat for me which in turn got the warranty claim approved. I was just dissapointed it took 2 weeks and many phone calls of me pushing hard on them.

I think this kind of situation really underscores the importance of building a relationship with your local dealer. And the fact that price while always an issue is not the only point to consider in a purchase.

The new rotors were installed yesterday. I took it out for a 200mi test today and the front brakes are now perfect. The new rotors did the trick.  Thumbsup
