I didn't think there was enough material here for a ride report, maybe it should go in region 1, I don't know...  I'll just share a few pics here...

Still working on my dirt skills, so I figured I take a short trip on some 2 track today on the Santa Rosa truck trails between Palm Desert and Idylwild, here in Southern California (I'd feel guilty if I didn't get out with weather like this)...

This is not a difficult road, but hey I'm learning solo...  Here is a well packed section a few miles in off Hwy 74,

From the side of the mountain it levels off and becomes lightly wooded with plenty of shade to keep the snow from melting and mudding things up too much...

As I got about 2 miles from the peak, things started to get pretty frozen and icy... I crawled my way through some of the shorter ice sections, but didn't want to go too far in and not be comfortable getting back down... I stopped here and turned back...

Here is what I could see from that point...

All in all, it was a pretty fun ride and my comfort level continues to improve with each small adventure off the pavement, and the I'm really enjoying the DR for these types of rides...

Thanks for checking it out...

Great pics! I'm jealous. Lol  It looks like fun riding there.  The Bay Area has awesome paved roads but we've got to get hours out of town to hit good dirt (no, I'm not counting the OHV parks).
