It's not the destination, but the journey, that counts. A sport-tourer's ride between two points is seldom a straight line. He will often seek the most convoluted route possible.

No I buy anything I want with in reason I don't buy to just buy, she never minds. I let her know I am getting it before hand 99% of the time shes there when I buy the stuff.

You didn't have a "Yes, because I love talking about my motorcycle and everything I do to it!"

Sometimes.  I'll ask before I get big things, but not when I'm getting smaller stuff (under a couple hundred dollars or so).

This wasn't an option, but I let my SO do the buying. She's a much better shopper than I am. But to topic, I always tell my SO what I'm buying, not for permission but to share my enthusiasm. She's extremely supportive of my hobby.

I said I buy what I want but there is a caveat. There is a big difference between a $600 helmet or a $160 rear tire.  Lol

The SO set the parameter when she bought a new van 4 years ago without my input. Now we have separate bank accounts and when she asks, "is that new", I tell her, "why yes, yes it is". Why lie?   Bigsmile

We have a common check account for family expenses and separate FU accounts that get auto-deposited a certain amount every payday.  Spending out of the FU fund is our own deal, hobbies, clothes, lunches other discretionary things.  The reason it is called FU is that if either of us asks the other what we are spending our money on we just reply 'bought with my FU fund so FU'.  It really takes tension out of the purchases because we have our own side budgets.  23 years married so I guess it works for us.

My wife is pretty understanding about parts to fix the bike, or make it safer, or more reliable.  But she still brings up how much the Arai helmet cost when she's telling out friends how much money I've spent on the bike!

Yeah, I vote for that one as well.

My wife also rides and sometimes gets her own gear/farkles that we can often share.

It's my money and as long as I contribute to the household I can do what I want with the rest. This year's big spend will be a Zumo 450. Permission not required.
