My dad's girlfriend's house burned down over the weekend.  This was one of the sadder sights.

All people and animals were unharmed (she's got 6 horses and two dogs).  She had left a space heater on to keep her well system pressure tank from freezing up over the last weekend when we were seeing overnight temps in single digits.  Sounds like the house will be a total loss.

... says the guy who isn't properly mourning that Sportster.  Lol

Seriously, glad everyone's ok. I admit to the notion of a house fire scaring the bejeezuz outta me.

It brought it to our attention as well.  I haven't done it yet, but I intend on checking our home owner's policy just to double check what is covered.  It also made me think about the possibility of a house fire while we're away at work.  Currently our dog is an inside dog and it would be devastating to us if we lost her.  So we're investigating the possibility of a dog-door.

I've seen signs that people put by their front doors/windows that mentions how many pets and type they have inside for rescue in case of fire.
