They have 4 non-Buell motorcycles listed:
Quantity VIN Year Model Miles
1 VBKGSL407WM721906 1998 KTM, Dakar 1862
1 VBKVD940X8M948420 2008 KTM, SuperDuke 842
1 WB10418A5XZC65543 1999 BMW1100RT 9267
1 SMT500PK67J283619 2007 Triumph, Speed Triple 5028
I would GUESS they were research drones that Buell bought, rode, dismantled and reassembled to aid in their own product development.

At one time a few years ago, Buell had a fleet of 450cc dirt bikes, as they were toying with the idea of entering that field.

Word has it that they ARE research tools, but weere not disassembled beyond what normal maintenance would require.

That's cause it has a Triumph file organizer on top for all the papers and manual.

First buell disowned the Blast, then HD disowned Buell. Ah, the irony.
That's what you get for killing your highest volume (albeit lowest cost) model by basically saying anyone who ever bought one was an idiot and the jokes on them - and this in a video of yourself symbolically destroying one in a goddamn car crusher.
As a former kook-aid junkie, its nice to come out of the fog. Still, I should feel bad, or at least sad, about the annihilation of Buell, but strangely, I don't. At all. Weird, huh?
Oh well.
Man, I hope I can still get a coil for the old Blast......
I didn't see any actual bike parts on the auction block though....

Funny that HD would not absorb some of this equipment if there was a need?
Seems like they should put out a corporate wide internal email that if anyone in an HD department somewhere has a business need for an item already in the Buell inventory that they could procure that item through a material transfer request type of thing.
I mean, why buy a new widget when you have two dozen perfectly serviceable widgets sitting collecting dust?
But I guess it's just me, I hate seeing anything perfectly good not being utilized to it's potential.

Sad here, but koolaid lost its power in the 1125 series.
The last three years were like watching an alcoholic you could not help and they refused step #1, admit you have a problem.

Meh, it's just hardware.
Do you think the CNC machine cares whether it's machining Buell parts or Sportster parts?
Sad to see Buell go, but at this point, it's a done deal, and for HD, it's only dollars and cents at this point.

HD is already talking about cutting it's production capabilities, so I'd be surprised if they were going to need anything for a while -- and it could be a long while, at that.
