5th Annual !!!!! July 23, 24 and 25th...

Castlegar lies at the confluence of the Columbia and Kootenay Rivers beneath the magnificent peaks of the Selkirk and Monashee Mountain ranges, all of which means it is a motorcyclists dream.

The Borscht ...



Friday night meet and greet at bubba's house in Castlegar.  We will likely depart from tradition this year and have our event catered by The Lion’s Head Pub makers of Genuine smoked BBQ  Details will follow …












But of course … we will serve Borscht !!  It would not be the same without the Borscht.
The unofficial fuel of the Kootenays and a long guarded recipe handed down from generation to generation. We serve it by the gallon and it is delicious and you will love it !! 

The Burn ...





Saturday morning we ride. Some dual sport or sport riding it is your choice. Route info to follow. But take heed, the Kootenays have some of the best roads in the world and you will enjoy !!! 





Some of Destination Highways descriptions of the roads in the area ...

From Kaslo on the amazingly twisty and newly paved, Highway 31A to New Denver. DH5 Destination Highways says " Up one series of rivers and down another, past the crumbling ghost towns of the Silver Rush, it’s sometimes a tight squeeze through the mountains between New Denver and Kaslo. Demanding? Yes. But if you haven’t ridden this classic, you haven’t ridden B.C."

From New Denver on Highway 6 through Nakusp to Fauqhier across Arrow Lake on the free ferry and then continue on the nearly traffic free Highway 6 all the way to Lumby for lunch. We will return on Highway 6 in the opposite direction all the way to Castlegar. DH2 Destination Highways says "An enormously varied riding experience, it ranges from farmland to wilderness, canyon to mountain summit, and tight narrow twisties to long, leaning sweepers. This road is so quiet, ranchers herd cattle on it. "

The Dual Sport Burn ...

The dual sport riding here is amazing ... well ... it is better than that but you will have to come and see for yourself ... and as some of us are back on dirt after many years, we just had to include an off road component for this year. Some friends from DualSport BC will hopefully join us as I will cross post on that forum and extend an ST.n welcome.  http://www.dualsportbc.com/

The BBQ ...

Saturday evening we head out to lizzabet and the alphabetman's splendid cottage on 100's of acres of some of the nicest waterfront in the world, on the shores of pristine Arrow Lake, for the famous Kootenay BBQ and Bonfire Follies !!

Date is official unless something extraordinary happens.

The only thing I am a wee bit worried about is mrs zanetti's holidays. She started a new job and may not be able to pick and choose her time off as in the past. So if the only time she can get off interferes with these dates I may have suggest another date. Unlikely though.

I'm like 80% in at this point. A little more difficult with work and such, since I'm coming up from Los Angeles. Still, this event is a very strong pull. Don't know yet if the SO is joining or what. Any-case I'm too lazy to figure out how to haul camping gear and such on a two week tour, so if there's and spare spleeping spots under a roof...
