Once the sun approached the horizon, the temperatures dropped rapidly into the thirties.  I'd need to be checked into a hotel before the bridges started to freeze.

The remains of the Valeda, Kansas School.

Breakfast at the Buckboard restaurant in Chetopa, Kansas

The old (and hardly used) Route 66 bridge east of Chelsea, Oklahoma.

The Price tower in Bartlesville was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright.  It was originally built as a combination of offices and apartments, and is now a nice (nineteen room) hotel.

Hominy, Oklahoma.

Crossing the Arkansas River

There is still plenty of snow on the ground, and--once again--as the sun starts to set, the temperature is dropping rapidly.

It's not the fall that hurts, it's when you hit the ground.

Start in Ralston and ride west.  Keep riding west, even though the numbered highway turns south after a couple of miles.  The road is paved although you'll want to watch for the rough patches.  It's not likely you'll see any traffic at all.  Eventually (and depending on which way you turn at the unmarked intersections) you'll end up in Ponca City.
