To Viroqua, Wi. For the past few years, it's been Boscobel. Not a bad locale, but the local eateries leave something to be desired.

Viroqua is every bit as central to good riding and it's a shorter distance from the nearest interstate, if that matters. No pre-scheduled events here for LDW and there are 3 motels. Several restaurants here and in Westby 7 miles to the north. One of them is Borgen's Cafe. Ask around about that one. La Crosse is a mere 45 minutes.

I can probably coordinate some entertainment, too.

Feedback?

If you call it, they will come....

But, as the sign says...:If you break it, you bought it..."

Same applies here.  Folks will show up for the event...but you're now "in charge" of securing Hotel Reservations, identifying at least a couple of good ride routes...camping options, breakfast spots, etc...

Dear Doctor,

Do you have a hotel in mind in Viroqua?

If not you may want to consider Reedsburg or Spring Green. Both are a little closer to Madison and the Interstate (presuming your coming from NE IL or Milwaukee), In Reedsburg consider the Voyageur and in Spring Green consider the Round Barn. Both are motorcycle friendly and have full course breakfast and dinner on premise as well as nearby restaurants, gas stations, etc.

Just a thought.

I attend (or try to) both events and actually, there would be room for both at the same time.  The area's riding is great as everyone knows and lodging choices in the area are relatively good.

PLEASE not Labor Day.

Parades, trhying to wend your way through the representatives of the Anti-Destination League, being able to make both the LDW AND the Mile in teh same year . . . all priceless.

Location, I am perfectly happy with any of the suggestions forwarded thus far.

As for entertainment, we'll have our motorycles, won't we?  Headscratch

OK. It sounds like most are on board with a change of venue. I don't hear a consensus on a change in timing. Be advised that LDW is one of the few weekends that time of year when there is no scheduled event that will fill area motels. For instance, mid-August is Wild West Days, one weekend after LDW is a local gospel/bluegrass festival (plust the Dells Rally), and two weeks later is the Vernon County Fair.

Mods-  can we put a region 4 sticky on this one, at least for a few weeks?

It's always going to be hit or miss with the date.  LDW works good for me, I never have family obligations and I can get the three day weekend without taking vacation.  If it's scheduled for a regular two day weekend I'm out because I don't want to take a week of vacation just to get a Friday or Monday off.

That said, if most would prefer a different weekend I certainly understand.

I will be unable to plan or attend the LDW R4 meet this year.  I type this with regret.  Other events (family related) have taken priority.  I will try and plan one or more long rides in this general area over the spring/summer to get my fix of that great riding area W of Madison.

Was the final location/dates set yet?  I'm game for either - but just trying to make plans.

Thanks,
