I have a habit of searching the local Craigs list before bed.

This guy is not alone, I see older models priced above new models all almost every day.  Few realize that new discounts effect previously sold models too. Crazy

I was one of the lucky ones.  As soon as I seen the 2010 Buell models released I could see the writing on the wall, and I sold my 08 Buell.  That fast move saved me about $2,500

The good news is, since new bikes are in very short supply, it won't be long before he might see the 10K he wants for the bike. It might be another 9 months or so, but I think the used market will recover once all the 6K bikes are no longer available.

Chances are this guy probably still owes 10K on the bike, which is why he has it listed for 10K.

That bike will never be worth $10,000

If your thinking Collectible, you can compare buying a running Ford Edsel for $2,500 and a really nice one for $9,000.  Adjusted for inflation that is  less then they sold when new.

The initial asking price was $11,999. But regularly you would see them for $9999, once you add TT&L it was up there.

Even if he bought one of the 6999 or 7999 he could be in the hole for 10 k after all the extras they add on like extended warranties lojack, and alien abduction insurance.

Awesome, this is local enough for this guy to get a message from the craigslist nazi.  He doesn't even list the year of this bike for which he asks 3 grand more than new. And it is the middle of winter!

Speaking of which, he's the reply I got to a guy selling a couple year old Vulcan for $49 less than original MSRP:

"that is asking price lick bag who would try to get what they actually needed for a bike this time of year nice e-mail address i hope you get struck by lightning for that one"

I'm not entirely sure what he means about 'who would try to get what they actually needed for a bike this time of year'.

Sorry, I got a little off topic, but I hope I answered your question, and that we all learned something about butterflies in the process.

Yes, this is entirely a Buell problem.  Let's continue to ignore the obscenely overpriced crap everyone else is trying to sell. Crazy Lol

I agree, and I'm pretty sure that it was caused by the pods.  We probably could narrow it down to entirely a 1125 problem.

I'm going to take a wild guess here, but I would imagine more people feel comfortable buying bikes from Manufactures still in business.  Supply and demand, yada yada

Memo, Buell is out of Business.  According to people at Badweb they are already part shortages on "non essential" parts already.
