From Asphalt and Rubber: Buell lives?  EEK!

Quote

After Erik Buell Racing sold its first two 1190RR’s to Pegasusraceteam, we now have what we believe are the first images of what the EBR 1190RR race bikes…sort of. Pegasusracteam (yes, they really don’t want their named spaced out), has taken some detail shots of different parts of the EBR 1190RR, including’ EBR’s bevy of specially made race parts.

Read the rest and see a few more non-revelatory pics at the link.

Place your bets, gents.  Is Erik Buell unshackled from the innovation-stifling influence of Harley Davidson (who reported a devastating 89.7% annual income loss for 2009), or is he ever more feverishly tilting at windmills?

He's selling the bikes under license from Harley. They are *not* an F-U to Harley. He's still under contractual obligations for the name and some of the tech.

The industry is too small, and Bu ell is way to smart, to be flippin anyone off . . . . .

As for tilting at windmills, the man started a motorcycle company that successfully designed, built and sold bikes. If that's titling at windmills, I'd say the industry could use a few more old Spaniards on broke down horses.

I've taken the fairing sides off.  They make the bike feel wide an cumbersome.  I couldn't move my knee around in corners because it snagged on the sides.  I've also come to prefer the look of naked pods

Did you see Exorcist? Did you see the head spinning? The wild eyes? The projectile vomiting? This is what you've done to Brad.

I haven't seen anyone suggest that EBR is "an F-U to Harley", so I'm not sure why you bring that up.

I'm always amazed at the number of folks that drank the kool aid, or shold I say Buell aid.

The 1125R was a piece of crud when introduced, many issues and not well received by the press. It looks like all that got most of the issues sorted in the '09 model year. But still way too UGLY and over priced for a bike with the performanced of some 600cc 4's and 675 3's.  Oh, did I mention a piss poor dealer support..

I'm sure you could, but I wonder if you could get from Rotax direct and save the middle man?
