From AP:
Argentine town burns city hall after teen deaths
Buenos Aires, Argentina
Hundreds of angry residents in an Argentine town have torched the city hall to protest the death of two teenagers in a police chase. Television footage shows residents attacking the municipal headquarters in Baradero, 60 miles north of Buenos Aires. The 16 and 17 year-olds died Sunday, apparently after police tried to stop them for riding a motorcycle without helmets.

Was the scoot in the pic above the one the kids were riding on? Cuz if that scoot in the pic is a motorcycle, then an FJR is a sports tourer.

Yeah, looks like a scoot to me...another, better picture that can be enlarged is
HERE
.
Apparently the police were chasing them for no helmets and they ended up smacking into that municipal pickup truck. I never have understood the whole "high-speed chasing" thing law enforcement seems so fond of.

I think it made a bit more sense before things like radios and helicopters existed.

Like my mother would say to me "little men in big boots" when she was speaking about the local law enforcement cadre.
P.S. mom was a navel officer and I think a closet socialists.

sure, seems a bit heavy handed, but lets put some things into context:
why did they run? that kind of behavior is always suspect. were they just being stupid kids? were they up to something more sinister and the cop stumbled upon them? were they riding recklessly? was there something else going on in the area to cause attention to them? maybe, maybe not, but whenever someone runs that is thier choice- the cop was only doing his job. of course, the severity of the event needs to be weighed against the risk.
before you guys get to cop-bashing heavy, just remember that not only is this a country that operates by a different set of rules than us, its a media article...and how often do they report all the facts, or get them right for that matter??!!
and of course, in the spirit of responsibility displacement that seems to have taken over the world, who would take the blame if those kids wrecked and died without being chased or pulled over? the public would blame the cops..."why didnt you pull them over and warn them about the dangers of not wearing a helmet?" damned if they do, damned if they dont.

The fact that the locals rioted and burned city hall over the incident speaks loudly.

You need lessons from County to do that effortlessly and effectively. He always seems to throw out the right chum.

apparently the term 'opportunistic civil unrest' is foreign to you. many people will look for any excuse to rape and plunder. until more details are found, this is the category im putting it under.
