That sounds like BS to me.  I had mine up to 149mph(that's what the speedo said) with no problem.

I have no reason BS anybody about it, just saying what I experianced and the owner said ya it's kinda crazy, some guy's do blah, blah to fix it.  Glad yours dosen't do it I guess.

I was talking about the owners comment to you.  I owned an 06 for 3 years and spent a lot of time on a Triumph web site.  Never heard of this problem.

and that may very well be it, maybe he has an issue and hasn't truely looked into it.  I just remember thinking, what the hell is wrong with this thing and he acknowledged it and had mentioned others experiancing it as well.  Ok, Hijack over. Lol

Here is a reply of little or no help.

I loved my Sprint.

I love my VFR.

Ergos are a little tighter on the VFR.  I raised the bars 3/4 an inch and lowered the pegs 3/4 of an inch and then the Sprint was a little tighter than the VFR.

Sprint has more torque at low RPMs

VFR takes off at about 7000 rpms but doesn't red line til 12000 plus.

I have ridden both of them to Vermont and back to Alabama and ridden both of them to work on a daily basis.

I'm hard pressed to pick a favorite.

Square - I will take you up on that when it's not blizzarding!

I loved the K1300S so I am assuming I will love the ZX14.  The heat issue worries my, but not much.

As for the Sprint v. VFR comments, sounds like they are similar in ergos, Triumph has torque, VFR has top end.  I like torque...we'll see.  That touring FZ1 on page 5 is just hot (as is that ZX above it).  If only money grew on trees.

Another +1 for a hypersport tourer/commuter...

You're welcome to a test ride if you haven't made any moves yet.  I'm on the south side, and if you bring something for me to ride along with, I'll throw the bags on, and we can go for a ride.  It's wired already, so if you've got some heated gear and the right connectors you can plug right in!  Yes, she puts out a bit of heat on really hot days, but with the exhaust mods mentioned, coating the headers, and water wetter, etc., it can be made manageable.  The '08s have better heat management inserts in the fairings than the '06 and '07s did, but those parts are just foam cutouts and fully interchangeable.  The heat doesn't bother me that much unless I'm trapped in bumper to bumper traffic, in which case I usually split and the heat dissipates rapidly.  I love it!  Inlove

I am sold on switching over to a 14 from my 600R Yamaha for the commute and trips. Rode the 14 several times and it is an awesome overall street bike.

Going to Florida in a week or two for 5 days with my inlaws...I traditionally rent a motorcycle while down there, just for a day.  This year I am going 30 minutes south to Miami to get a sport bike.  No Ducatis, no MV's (already rented) so I got me  Busa for the day.  CANNOT WAIT!!!  THERAPY!!  So on 2/27, I'll be terrorizing Florida between Miami and West Palm Beach....not a lot of twisties down there, but I'll find something.  Need to visit family in West Palm.  Maybe I'll stop there for lunch.

I keep thinking, why buy anything short of what I want?  I have the Tuono, and while it's not the best rig, I can put the topcase on it for the work commute....just hold off and save, save, save.  Then buy whatever.  (I won't ever finance a bike...especially not when I can't/won't ride it for 4-5 months a year in Chicago.

I don't see a Busa in my future, even if I love it, but maybe a K1200S or newer Sprint ABS.  WHO KNOWS!!!! BUYING A BIKE IS TORTURE!  I just wanna ride...

Did some checking on the insurance....Busas and ZX14's are expensive - $700+ per year - and ZZR1200 ad K1200S is not far behind.

Futuras and Sprints are best of the bikes on my list, with VFR's just a bit more expensive.

I may pull the trigger on a Futura....we'll see.  I should just wait until 3/12 when I'll get time on the new FZ1 and the Sprint.  We'll see how the Busa spoils my on 2/27...

When I looked at buying a ZX14, insurance through State farm was only around $300.00 a year.  Full coverage, 100/300 if I remember correctly.

That is one I don't understand.  I guess the insurance industry takes advantage of Honda classifying the VFR as a sport bike.  It blows me away that an 781cc(VFR) bike costs more to insure than a 1050(sprint).

Age, driving record, location and different insurance companies all factor into it.

Yup.  Age I'm good, driving record and credit I'm good, but my location (in Chicago proper) causes my insurance to be up there.  Gotta pay to play.

Hey Dan, you are torturing yourself! Ask yourself one simple question (and be honest). That question should be. What bike do I really want?

Once you answer that question in your own mind, go after the bike you really want. Hell, your only young once... Fifty years from now, you don't want to be sitting in a rocking chair telling your great grandkids about the bike you wished you would have owned, but never did...

Best wishes,

Pete

I want them all!  I'm in. Chicago, so that may be affecting the insurance.

Get the one I want. Here's the thing. I've been driving my car forever and it just blew a head gasket. Time to buy a new car. Last weekend, just discovered mold in my attic, likely need to replace some sheething, which means partial tear off roof. May come out of my pocket, not sure yet.

Wife gates bikes. I can't dig into family cash with these expenses coming up, even for just a few grand, to buy a bike. Doesn't feel right. I'm 37, there will be more bikes in my future, and the problem is I haven't ridden many of the bikes on the list.

If I find a Futura that fits the bill , I'll likely buy it. What do I really want? K1300S or new Multistrada. But I won't be happy with myself if I buy either with the expenses about to come down the pipe. What will I buy?  F*** if I know!

Well, with the Tuono, you are hardly in dire straits, as you mentioned. I love those things. Bigsmile In fact, I would have one, except I wanted a little more wind protection when I was shopping.
