Here's a quick update on the official dinner.  The following members noted their plan to attend the national but have not yet sent in funds for dinner.  The deadline is this Saturday (June 5).

No prepayment, no dinner.  Sorry, but I have to turn in the official count in by this weekend.

Thanks.

My fiancee and I are going to catch dinner elsewhere, this group dinner is a little pricey (why I voted against it in the dinner poll). We'll try to catch up with everyone later that evening back at the hotel.

I understand and appreciate your reply.  The unfortunate side of the buffet is the fact it includes items (salad and dessert) that not everyone would typically order.  Given those items, the $20 per plate isn't bad.  And don't forget the great door prizes!    Thumbsup

We hate that you'll not be joining us.  I simply went with the majority of the votes.   I have heard from one other member who has dietary needs which the buffet may not meet.

We'll catch up w/ you in the parking lot as we kick tires.   Bigok

Well.  Crap.  Looks like i'm not going to be able to make it this year.  Been tryin to sell my house and fortunately I have a contract, but the bad part is it came way too late.  I'm going to have to count myself out, however there is maybe a 5% chance I'll be up there.  Highly unlikely though Sad  My first miss in 5-6(?) years /cry.

Gonna try to make this.  Work's been really screwy as of late; was supposed to be off last week but got asked to come in.   Won't know until sometime next week whether I can take off; I ordered some parts for the FZ just in case though.

Well, here's how trip planning starts for me: in search of squiggly lines:

http://www.grandcorbeau.com/nest/VFR/trips/national2010/map_on_floor.jpg

At this point, I know that I'm entering PA through Elmira NY, then hitting PA 414 in a SW direction, to I-80. South of that, I can't find a nice way to get from there to the WV or MD stateline...

Sadly, long sections of really good roads are hard to find between I-80 and I-68/I-70 through western PA.

If you look to the west of Harrisburg, PA, you'll see Rt. 74 running north/south.  That's a fun road!  By the time you run the to the end of 74, you're almost at Gettysburg.  That's well worth a look.

South of Gettysburg is Rt. 77 (east/west).  That's well worth running from Thurmont, MD over to Smithburg, MD.  Then you can pick up 66 south to 34 through Antietam National Battlefield.  Next, I would pick up Harper's Ferry Road and take it to Harper's Ferry, WV.  It's WELL worth the stop.

From there, you will start to find a lot of good roads on your way to Lewisburg.
