Moab, UT - cheap motel recommendations?

We're planning a dual-sport trip to Moab in late March (we hope to leave there *just* in time to avoid the beginning of the Jeep Jamboree ).

Any recommendations on cheap (clean!) motels in the area?  We really want an attached bathroom, so the hostel thing is pretty far down the list.  Some where within walking distance that serves a good dinner would be nice to!

Psst, ksann - I posted this in General as I think it *more* likely that people outside the region would have motel recommendations.  I haven't the faintest clue what motel you'd want to stay in in Calgary, but I can give some great recommendations for southern BC!  Those who live nearby have homes & don't tend to "sleep out" (we hope  )...

and rented a cabin.  2 adults, 2 kids, 2 beds, kitchenette and private bath.

No complaints.  Pool and room were clean.  Slight problem w/mosquitoes sneaking in through the door (pine boards w/some gaps).  Otherwise, we ate in for breakfast, close to the park and easily under $100.00 per night.  (we're veggies so microwave and fridge were necessary).  Gotta drive to get to town though.

Would stay there again!

Try the beer at Eddie McStiff's Brew Pub. When I made the cross-country trip with my two son's to move the middle son to San Fran for college we ran up a $165.00 beer tab there for the evening. A good time was had by all.  

The motels all seemed to be about $100.00/night.

There is a place in town that serves up a pretty decent breakfast, just cannot remember the name for the life of me. Our waitress was named Rainbow.

IHOP was practically next door to the cabin site....probably under $80/night in summer...so should be cheaper in the 'off' season.  Plus they got a hot tub....

The Best Western an hour away in Green River is probably THE nicest motel I've ever been to and it rivaled many smaller Hotels, too. If you wanna run that extra hour.

And probably cheaper than the rooms in Moab are "on-season".

I've been checking rates for a week's trip there in early March.  The rates go up March 17th when the seasonal stuff kicks in.
A room that is $49 or $59 (weekends same rate) in the pre-3/17 off season, go up to about $100 a night.

I've stayed at a few places, and am looking at the Bowen Motel and the Inca Inn - both downtown and walking distance to places to eat.
It's tough to get out of walking distance in Moab...

Green River is 52 miles up the road if the Jeep thing packs town.
The usual Comfort Inn and Motel 6 stuff on the east end of town - but being cheap I usually end up at the Robber's Roost for $29, and a block's walk from Ray's Tavern (for great steaks)

+2 on the Inca Inn.

Was just renovated last year. Very clean and it is $69 a night for a room. You can walk into town from there easily. We stayed there one night last year and I would base out of there for if I went again.

Trail guides are good for descriptions, etc....but the best maps by far are the Latitude 40 series.
There's a Moab East and a Moab West, between the two they cover a huge area.

Both great places - glad to see the brewpub's still up and running.  Redfox and I stopped at Moab in 2005 during our first cross-country together.

I wonder how sticky they are on the "one parking lot per room" thing?  Reloading the bikes every night would be a pain...  Otherwise they do look like a good possibility.

Our vacation options for March are first week or last (full) week.  First week sounds a little iffy for temperatures from the research we've done.

Yes, I bought those while in Moab and they are excellent. The book is just a broad description of some of the challenges on each trail.

We stayed at the Super 8 last Spring, they were the last place in town to have rooms too. Great front desk folks. No issues with parking spaces/per vehicle either. We were there during the hot rod show, and got to see some sweet cars.

Thanks for all the recommendations, booked a room at the Inca Inn this morning.  5 nights starting the 21st of March & they'll let us park the Sprinter in the gravel lot out back

Yes. You can buy them at the main Visitors Centre. They have everything their from guide books to maps. Good info from the folks who work there too.
