In case anyone gets on here looking for the emission label on a Tiger,

The emissions label is located here:

Yup, I took that pic in my garage today after stipping my new Tiger I brought home yesterday, introduced here:
http://www.sport-touring.net/forums/index.php/topic,50519.0.html

Having the Tiger parked next to the Speedy, I'm surprised at the number of differences in the build of the two bikes.  The frames are much more different than a casual glance would suggest.  They do share some common traits and DNA, but they are not the same animal.

I can't wait to get a plate on this thing tomorrow and get aquainted with my "new" Trumpet.

Since this is the Tiger question thread..........

Please give me your opinions on the price of this Tiger I'm looking at.

Its a new 09 black with the matching hard side bags and ABS for 11,939 out the door. That includes all fees (prep/doc/frieght). My other local dealer has a 2010 Tiger also black with ABS for a considerable amount more.

So is this a good deal on a new 09 or not? Thanks for any response.

He's about $1500 more than I would expect to pay.  That said, I'd try and get him down to $11k and a helmet, and call it good.  No noteworthy changes for 2010, so I'd go for the 2009 for sure.

I wonder if instead of a helmet would they throw in the optional heated grips installed.  Do they sometimes make deals like that with optional accessories? I have never tried that before, just always argued about the price.

After negotiating what I feel is the best price I then bargain for a OEM free accessory. I usually successful. this is also a good time to negotiate other accessories at dealer cost and free installation.

I guess you are right on the price. I went to another Triumph dealer and got $10,999 out the door, all I have to do is pay the state sales tax. Brand new 09 with side bags and ABS. Shes shiny jet black and I pick it up Saturday.

My first ever non-Japanese bike. This will be interesting.

Thanks to everyone for all the info.

good for you, bud -- you're gonna love that bike . . . . . . . .

When you get home, grab the Owner's Manual, adjust the clutch lever, and adjust the chain to the loose end of spec. Two things the factory/dealership typically don't do a great job of . . . . .

Well purchased.  I just picked up my second Triumph after 3 years with the first, and its been nothing but smiles the whole way.  "Interesting", no worries.  You're going to have a blast on that thing, they're great bikes.

Has anyone had chain adjustment issues with the stock Tiger chain? I'm either too tight or too loose there seems to be no in between. If I adjust for the tight spot then the rest of it is so loose its flopping and banging and knocking so bad you can feel it and if I adjust the slop out of it then the tight spots are like a damn violin string.
It has a whole 190 miles on it now  Rolleyes do I have a bad chain or what? Maybe I should have went with the deal on the leftover Concours 14 (shaftie).

On another note the headlights totally suck. I have seen where some people have put motolights on the Tiger but I have had those in the past and honestly the stock lights on the Tiger are much like having motolights only. It needs something that will get out there further and motolights I dont think is the answer. Twisted throttle actually has a mount for additional lighting that mounts just under the stock headlights, I can certainly see why this is available. There is a easy solution to this I suppose..... just dont ride at night.

There is no such thing as the perfect bike and I know these are just minor things. The deal with the chain is more aggravating than anything.

Spencers seats sure did a great job, lowered it some plus much more comfortable with the long distance (LD) option he has. http://greatdaytoride.com/Home_Page.php

The R&G sliders are so cool. They look like they came on the bike. Just bolt them on. Much nicer than crash bars I think, especially after reading some people had a vibration after installing the SW Motech crash bars.

I agree that the MS will eat up a Tiger in the spec sheet wars -- no doubt about it at all.

On the street, though? I'm not so sure -- I've kept up with some well-ridden trips, a couple of liter bikes on crappy roads, and a number of 2008 and earlier MS examples.

IMO bomber hits the nail on the head.  The street isn't a road race coarse and most of us rarely get close to the limits of our bikes anyway.  Also, Ohlins are just ducky, but very pricey.  For under $300 you can get a HyperPro Combi-Kit and transform your suspension.

I prefer to adjust my chain on the center stand, but at least on my Tiger the adjustment holds for a long time.  I'm at about 16K on the chain and will probably change it out in another 10K.  Again, in mine, I don't have any very tight spots, not to say the chain is totally uniform either.  You just may have a bad chain too, that happens.

There are a ton of posts on HID lights on the Tiger 1050 forum.  I have a pair of PIAA lights under my fairing that turn night into day, but I'd go HID if I had the chance.

Had Spencer do my FJR seat, great job.  I like the stock seat but have just bought a gel seat because a friend says that they are the best thing since buckwheat.

I may get a crash bar some day but looking at the prices, Dairyland Insurance is my crash bar.
