Freakin' L.A. area people.  It was never "the" 5 until Los Angeles traffic reporters started that crap.  It was alway "I-5" or "I-15" with no "the" in front of it.  Now we have all these damned people using that terminology here and it drives me up the wall.

One of these days I'll need to plan on hanging out with you Cali folks and go for a ride with you in your beautiful state.  During breaks and evening dinner, I'll allow everyone to educate me on all things California.  What better way for one to get educated than sampling your fine roads during the day and your tasty local brews and wine at night.    Bigsmile

It's a very big state- it's 800 miles from my plce to where the WCRM is going to be held at the other end... and there is an incredible amount of phenomenal riding.  Plan on a couple of weeks.

You may be right, but I'll be 30 years old in a couple months and I can't ever recall a time when the 5 was referred to as "I-5".

RDoug,

You got it brother.  We'll start down south at AleSmith, work up to the Stone restaurant, Pizza Port Brewing for some Old Viscosity, The Bruery and Bootlegger's in Orange County along with Haven Gastro Pub and Beechwood BBQ for ribs and brews, skip LA because it's the armpit of the earth, ride Decker and the rest of the famous roads north of LA by Malibu, making our way up to the grand finale - Russian River Brewing Company for some Pliny the Elder, Damnation, Blind Pig, Consecration, and if you like sour beers, the best in the world - Supplication.

We might even stop at my storage facility (yes I rent a cellar for aging beer!) and pick out a few from my collection Smile

That's Southland speak.

In the south it's always "the 5, the 101, the 405".

Up north we just say 5, 101, 36, 3.

California is very diverse.

Well, you're from that area where that usage originated.

Jeff Haney is a great instructor, you're going to have a blast!   I had him for 1 on 1 and the small group instruction with Freddie Spencer.

I believe it was an old report from you about attending the Freddie Spencer school in Vegas that has had this class in the back of my head.  Didn't you go by Dinole or something similar?
