They had a hard time selling them in Canada so I doubt you'll be seeing them anytime soon in the US.

I don't think there's much comparison between the MT01 and a Buell other than they are both V-twins.  The MT01's are heavier, much less sporty, and quite expensive.   I do not see Yamaha importing them into the US.

It's sportier than you'd think by looking at it. It carried it's weight quite low and alot heavier than a Buell but was still good in the corners. I ride with a guy that works for Yamaha Canada and he showed up on a few rides with the MT-01. The tires were scrubbed right down and he was leading the pack. I had a chance to ride it and was impressed by it other than the massive vibes from the huge v-twin. I thought of it as "a Buell with a decent transmission". It's a good hooligan bike but way too expensive and therefore didn't sell.

I like'em, but then again I like long bed pickups and Buells.  I consider myself out of the norm for vehicle purchases.  Almost everything I've owned is a little different from the rest of the crowd.  Nothing spectacularly different worth pictures here though.  Just different enought to make'em hard to find parts for.  So yeah, they wouldn't sell well if I like'em.

I rode one a few years ago...it made my Buell feel like an I4 screamer.  The MT-01 uses a massive engine (1700 cc or thereabouts) and it feels like a tractor-pulls hard from below 2k rpm, revs out around 5k.  I didn't get a chance to sling it through any corners, but...I doubt it'd keep up with my 'Bolt on a twisty road.  It is a large, heavy bike.
