The two times I've been on it it was kinda bumpy and dirty. Not a bad road, but the pavement quality isn't all that. It's one of those roads that gets tar/chip every few years.

Once you make it as far West as Binghamton try to jog South to pick up Route 6 in PA and take that West to Galeton where you can pick up the end of Route 144 and take that South towards Clearfield.
Most people would likely take 879 ( just North of I-80 ) for the last stretch into Clearfield.

That's fine advice. Take it.   Bigok

It's been two years since I was on it, but that was my take too. It's probably in worse shape that early in the season.

Thank you both for the info ,if I use the Versys i may still use it as my hook in rather than back track to 872 and riding that twice

I glanced at the map and thought about that but it looked a little far south but if you say it is good I will look again. I was thinking of going thru Waverly down to Towanda since I was born there and have not been there since I was 2.

Best roads in the area are:

Wyckoff Run - 10 miles of twisties along a popular fishing creek. Very few passing opportunities, so hope for no traffic.

This would be the road that I was able to see first hand Road Fishing.  Only in PA  Now I've heard of road hunting but not road fishing.

Anyone know what rt44 (not 144) is like from US 6 to jct 144 ?

I think they repaved a pretty good chunk of that section last fall.

We're looking at a week in the 40s now. That should get rid of most of the white stuff.

I have to work a few hours at the office today and I'm riding there!

Regarding potholes, that's what my 21" front wheel is for.   Razz

Me too...came home yesterday and dug out the snow from around my shed. Looking for the sun to take care of the surface stuff that's left. Can't wait to ride again, didn't get out at all in February.

Me neither...  I think I'll pull the bike out of storage next weekend (other plans this weekend).  Even if it snows again, it shouldn't be a major storm. http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/Marcster2005/Smileypad/Sorry%20Help/hide.gif

Just don't try to buy another bike - that seems to be the death knell.
