I'm still trying to figure it out. So what I can see (read?) is that we're all meeting for lunch on Sunday. So why the motel reservations?  Headscratch  What's the general layout of this event?

As I understand it:

  • Plan an interesting ride to the hotel to arrive on Saturday afternoon.
  • Meet up with others in the parking lot and ride till dinnertime.
  • Dinner w/other ST.Ners.
  • Drinking, BSing and tall tails in the hotel parking lot till late.
  • Breakfast at hotel on Sunday.
  • Ride till lunchtime.
  • More BSing at Denny's.
  • Split for home.

I think that's the basic gist of it.  Basically a compressed version of ESTN.

I guess you could just leave your house first thing on Sunday, stay for lunch and then ride home.  http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/Marcster2005/Smileypad/Hmmm/dontknow.gif

While some people make this a day trip (Sunday for lunch at Denny's) many of us have decided to make a weekend of it.  There is really good riding north of I-80 and I know I try to tackle some of those roads on Saturday.  And, if you allow yourself 3-4 hours Sunday morning, there are some nice loops you can do before eating at Denny's.

Marcster and R Doug summed it up nicely.  There's more than enough interesting roads in the area to keep you busy Saturday and Sunday morning.  Plan on slabbing back home after lunch.

As for the roll call, I did that for ESTN because we needed a head count for t-shirts and dinner planning.  No reason to do that for the Burger Run, plus we get a lot of folks from outsite STN.

I have gone to this event every year since it started, and only last year did I stay over.  While it is fun to do it as a day trip, it is even more fun to enjoy Central PA roads and trails for those extra few hundred miles.  There will be routes and recommendations posted.

There will be A LOT of people there on Sunday at lunch, and many of them aren't STN'ers (unless it rains), so staying over allows much more socializing time with STN'ers then a 1-2hr lunch can provide.  Plus there are many people that come from quite a distance, so staying over only makes sense.
