The seller brought it over last night. Now if this snow would just go away (and don't bother suggested studded tires, they're expensive!)

Nice find.

Studded tires are cheap if you just want to go out and not slip around on trails or in your yard. Just put sheet metal screws in them, that's all I did. I used about 900.

Yep...they're fast and don't put your foot down when you lose the front end at speed: torn ACL's suck. Bash

However, it easy to change out the top end.  Thumbsup

Now what the hell does this do?

yes, I know. I was looking for a 125 2-stroke or a 250 4 stroke, and had a little too much frustration with sellers who thought their bikes were worth too much. Saw a few bikes that looked awful fishy too.

I had been kidding around with a coworker who was trying to sell this bike to me about what I was willing to pay. And then when he found his next bike, all of a sudden he was willing to take what I offered. Hrmmm. But he tossed in some spares, I will be riding with him maybe most of the time too, so there were some trade-offs. Hopefully my track experiences has taught me a thing or 2 about throttle control. At least until I say "let's see what this sucker will do!"

We've got some private tracks and some OHV trails within easy driving distance. Trackdays will probably lose out some this year.

Jon,

Check your gearing, especially if you go to some HOV trails. Stock my CR was geared to go very fast on an open MX track. Most of the tracks around here are little practice tracks. I was never outta 3 gear. If you go up to a 54-56 on the back and up one tooth on the front, it makes it a little better. When I only changed the rear gearing, I was fighting to keep the front down. Have fun. It's a blast to go beat the heck outta yourself and the bike.

Several companies sell flywheel weights for two strokes.  It can really help calm one down, if you find you need that.

Awesome, congrats! Bigok

I just got my first dirtbike a few months ago. A nice lil kx100 2-stroke. Added a 12oz flywheel weight from Steahly.com and a 54 tooth rear sprocket (51 is stock). Turned it into a nice trail machine. We got about 3-6" of snow a few weeks ago and I had to try it out. Riding in the snow is AWESOME!! No studded tires here, just stand up and get your weight back. I'd imagine 62" might be a bit more challenging, but just think at how good you'll be at dirtbiking by the time everything melts after learning to ride in the snow. Bigsmile

well, I've gone out about 9 or 10 times this year to an OHV park about 70 miles from home. Its like 500 acres, with 4 tracks and lots of trails. I'm not crazy about trail riding becuase of all the blind corners and its not guaranteed to be one way traffic.

Me and a friend went out sunday. The video doesn't do it justice, but it was muddy. I've got little confidence when it is muddy. I was learning that ironically it is easier to ride through the mud with a little speed, with only a little weight on the front. When I went really slow, the front would be sliding through and snowplowing mud. Yikes.

Looks like fun.  I really need to get one of those.
I had to chuckle about half way through when you pulled over for a couple guys behind you.  It looked like you peaked that hill, looked around and they were nowhere to be found.  At least I think that's what happened.
If it's not guaranteed to be one way traffic I think I'd be more afraid of cresting a hill and running into someone.

BTW I think you have to allow your uploaded videos to be embedded.  There is a setting somewhere in youtube under the video info sharing options.  Or something.

yes, I was expecting them to be right on my tail and I was going to let them pass, but they just kept doing this really short loop where they would just go back up that 3-step hill. I don't get it, but it didn't bother me.

Thanks for the embed info, I'll check.
