I'm a big fan of Pilot Powers.  Use them exclusively these days.  What's up with this new Pilot Pure sport tire?  each tire is a few pounds lighter than any other tire on the market?  Dual compound engages sooner than even Pilot Power 2CTs?  Anyone tried them?

This is the first I've heard of them, but I'm a big fan of the Powers for my ZX-14 and the Road 2's for my C-14.  I'm sure your ZX will  Inlove them.

If you decide to try them, please speak up for sure.  I'll be watching. Cool

They are a "pure" racing tire, your ZX will eat them. I've seen some great reviews of them, so if your looking for a super sticky, low mileage tire.. then give em a shot.

I've run the powers on my r6 for years, and I find the new Pure an intriguing choice.  I went with the 2C for my last tire, which wore well but felt greezy under extreme lean angles.  I decided to give the new Dunlop Sportmax Q2 (essentially, a qualifier with durability strip) a go this time around, as I've just always been a fan of Dunlop rubber, and I've found the reviews compelling.  Of course, either of these tires would be devoured by a cruiser.

Hey Con_ndrm,

I also have C-14 and I run Metzler Z6's on them. I get about 5-6000 miles a tire, but I only got 3500 on my last rear tire. I didn't like the Bridgestone battleaxe tires that came on the bike, it kept feeling like the front end was going to tuck. Why do you like the Road 2's? I'm just curious, my tires both got decent tread and I shouldn't need new skins until June, but I'm not sure if I got the best tire. Don't get me wrong, I love how the Metzler's handle, it's just wear, I concerned about, perhapst ehe Michelen is better. Thanks,

I saw a set yesterday when I was at Thunderhill.  They were brand new...no idea how they did.

Could get really expensive running these on a ZX if this is the case.

I would bet that they are not rated for the weight of the ZX.  Shrug

The load ratings for the Pure are 58 front and 75 rear in the ZX-14 sizes, same as the Pilot Power 2CT.  Those translate to a front loading of 520lbs and a rear of 853, total 1373, or about 800 lbs more than a ZX-14.  Those load ratings are common to the majority of popular sport rubber such as the ZX-14 stock BT-014.

I would bet that you could have found that out for yourself instead of throwing out uninformed guesses.  Shrug

I mounted a set up yesterday, but unfortunately won't be able to ride em for a couple weeks, based on the weather. I'll let you know.

Rode these today. Nice tires, no handling vices. They seem to ride exceptionally well, might be the light weight=they are noticeably light when you pick them up. You can "feel" the transition zone if you really focus.

Couldn't rail too hard due to the amount of loose stuff still on the roads, but if you like the Powers, you'll like these.

The only issue in my mind is mileage-did they save the weight in tread thickness?

That's what I hope may be an improvement.  The 2CT transition zone was off in the :eek area in the first place.  I think I would feel better getting into that over with before the bike was listing quite so heavily.
