I just noticed it listed over at VFRD and thought immediately of your awesome VFR.   Thumbsup

I'm going to look at a brand new 2008 VFR 800 tonight, but just for giggles....they want way too much for it.

I got some time tonight to strip off the swingarm in preparation for powdercoating.

Gonna take it to work and use the press there to press out the bearings for the swingarm pivot and shock linkage.

It's gonna be satin black, exactly the same as the frame.

Wow, I can't believe I've put over 10,000km on the rebuilt bike thus far.

Akshully, no. I found an EBAY seller here in Canada who also does custom lines, so I'm having them make up a set.

Because of the front end swap, the front lines are custom, and far longer then RC51 lines. The rear brake lines are nearly perfect, but I need to lengthen one of them since it's been relocated from the PCV to the rear master cyl (delinked the brakes for the fork swap).

The clutch line is a hybrid rubber/hard metal jobbie that is original to the bike, so it's getting on in years, as are the rear OE rubber lines. I built my own front lines back in '05, but they are a tad too long, and I'd sleep better with factory swaged ends, though to be fair, the ones I built (separate banjos and compression olive style) have not leaked so it's probably just paranoia.

I had forgotten about the front-end swap. Doh!

In any case, it's not bad to be paranoid about the fittings. My Galfer lines are older than M.Brane's and one of the fittings started leaking. In comparing the two sets, we could see that Galfer had changed the fittings on that particular line, I'm assuming because of others having leaks. M.Brane fixed the fitting and now all is good.  Thumbsup

Hey Rob have you had a chance to try the brakes yet? It looks like your bike is in pieces (again).  Bigsmile

After putting one summer on the new Galfer rotors, I must say that they are absolutely worth it.  Bigok

The side excursion with the Dubious Chinese Rotors showed just how bad a product could be  Thumbsdown, and just how good the Galfers are  Thumbsup.

Thankfully, I only paid about half of the $832 MSRP for the rotors, they were on super duper blowout pricing sale. Still new though.

They come in blue, black, clear or red only.
Maybe red to go with the red accents already on the bike?

Thumbsup for red but I don't see any red accents in above picture.
Clear would be neat, you can see if the fluid is contaminated (or has air bubbles) with out removing the reservoir cap.  Razz

Got the swingarm mounted, still have to clean the needle bearings in the rear drive hub and regrease, reinstall.

Did get the new cush drive rubbers installed though, and of course, all the swingarm and shock linkages thoroughly cleaned, and regreased/torqued.

Pardon the lousy lighting and flash flare in the garage.

Your chain looks like it has kinks.    Razz

Seriously, the swing arm looks great!   Thumbsup  You have good taste and an eye for harmony with the color scheme and mods--tasteful, just the right amount of bling, plenty of function.  I like that.

Swingarm all prettied up, rear hub was dismantled, bearings cleaned, repacked with fresh grease, and reinstalled.

New cush drive rubbers installed, and also the cush drive housing that I had powdercoated 2 years ago went on.

The one I WAS running up till this time was only spraypainted.

Can you guess what's next?
