From a translation of the wiki article:
The
Ligurian Grenzkammstraße
(often abbreviated as lgks, leading in some maps as Lilium Grenzkammstraße recorded) as a former military road along the French-Italian border. Your passable on a loose surface length is 63 kilometers - from the Colla Melosa until the junction at Colla di Tenda. Much of the journey takes place at altitudes above 2000 meters.
The particular Grenzkammstraße was used between the wars in the Mussolinizeit and maintained. Many military forts, like Fort Central at Tenda Pass of 1880, lining the alpine crests. Most forts were built between 1880 level and 1940. The road crosses the border several times. This for a military road curious fact is explained by the fact that in the region of boundaries before 1947 was part of another than they are today.
The Ligurian Grenzkammstraße is a haven of high recreational value, a high-alpine route over 60 kilometers, to be met with virtually no one. That is why it is important for nature conservation reasons, adhere to the rules of the alpine protected area. An off-road tourists, especially in enduro and mountain bikers, the navigation of the long, dirt track outside human settlements substantial physical and psychological demands (average degree of difficulty, according to leaders of the Great Alpine Road Denzel-Verlag: SG 3-4, occasionally 4-5 SG ).

That is nucking futs,
I couldn't watch it without tilting to my left to try to stay on the path.
Why would someone do that?

Why would someone do that?
Because it's awesome. If I was a lot more confident in my riding ability I'd do it (despite the minor inconvenience if having to travel around the word). But at this point all I can see is my left handle bar hitting something on the inside wall and flipping off the bike and down the mountain.

Maybe, and I do mean maybe, in my younger days when I was still buying immortality on credit.
Now? Just makes my tummy quiver.
