Just trying to get the ball rolling...  couch

From the Region 6 Tech Day thread:

How cool is this?  Sure wish Region 2 did stuff like this.

It isn't magic. If you've got a garage, or a flat driveway, and some workspace, YOU can make it happen. Main problem I see is the likelihood that folks are spread geographically far apart. But then again, this IS the SPORT-TOURING forum. I bet that if you schedule it, they will come.

It might be nice to meet some of the folks from neighboring areas for sure! I'd take a meet-and-greet over a
Tech Day" anytime.

Thing about a Tech Day is that you can show up without having anything to do on your bike. You can kick back with a beer and a burger and/or offer your knowledge and suggestions to those who might be doing some stuff on their bike. The Tech Day we're having is going to be a fairly even mix of those who are working and those who are just hanging out  Thumbsup

I understand your point completely, and add my thumbs up to Lionlady!

Personally, I'll stay far away from "Tech Days". I'm not knocking the concept, it's just a "me" thing.  Lol

Okay, guys... In case anybody didn't notice. I'm in Maryland, not region 2. Sounds like there's already some interest in getting together. Maybe not for a tech day... as I tried to say, setting something up, it isn't magic.

Key is to pick a date at least a month away so folks can plan to be there. ANYONE can take the initiative! SO what if 5 folks show up, next time, there will probably be 10...

Indeed I noticed you are in Maryland. Region 2 is purty large. I guess that if some more folks pop in and take notice, we could start by selecting a location, date, etc.

Nice idea lionlady!   Thumbsup

Hey LionLady from Reisterstown, MD,

Tech days are gr8t and I have learned a lot from them. Sometimes they have to be bike specific. I don't expect any help from someone who has an R6 to help me with my Goldwing or BMW, and of course Visa-Versa. Many Tech Days are best handled by specific Bike clubs. We have a small Naked Goldwing club locally and are a lot of help on tech days. I have a ST1300 now and have learned a lot about working on it from other st1100 and st1300 owners.

By the way......Did you notice how big our region is?

We are having our Spring Rally and half the people coming are riding at least 300 miles, and another half are riding at least 800 miles. - And that is just to get there.

Even though we have a good time when we do get together, It ain't as easy as a Pie run.

Why don't you come on down and join us April 8th in Kerrville Texas for the Spring Rally but I won't guarantee you will get the "Farthest travelled award".

Cheers

Bob

and I understand that tech days don't often work out for multiple makes of bikes.

I was mostly responding to a comment in the Reg 6 Tech Day thread... It seems folks sometimes feel they've got to have permission or authorization to set something up. I was trying to be encouraging.
