Hello, I just wanted to introduce myself, my name is Adam and I am a salesperson at Ducati Seattle, with David and Erik. I am new to this Forum but not to the industry, I have worked with all the major Japanese brands as well as Triumph and HD and am very excited to meet and talk with all of you. If you have any questions about the new Multistrada 1200 or any of our motorcycles I will be happy to answer them to the best of my ability. Is there a way to open the fuel cap in case the electronics decide not to cooperate?

I'm willing to bet that the fuel cap continues to have the key hole which directly activates the latch mechanism.  But then in the fuel cap is the electronics needed to release the latch.  I'm curious how it powers itself.

With the electric cap in place once you shut off the instrument panel you have 60 seconds to lift the lever on the cap to open it.  No key involved.   The lever looks like the standard key hole cover on a gas cap but in the case of the hands free style style it acts as the trigger.

it doesn't look like it,  but if you lose power function to that you are probably missing other functions as well..
