Paint the black part of the windsheild to match the bike.
Not bad, actually. Beats buying new plastic for a bike that old.

Two things, if the headlight were bigger it would be in better proportion to the rest of the bike -- my old CB 900F had an 8" light that would have been just right. And some sort of panel over the plumbing/electrical ahead of and below the tank would be wise, both aesthetically and functionally. I'd hate to get caught in the rain the way it is right now.
Other than that I'm amazed at how well the faring came off. I'd have sworn it would look like a Massey Ferguson.

Dunno, kinda OK.
Maybe half naked, with an upper fairing only. Definitely ditch the exhaust cover now. Put back the tip over wing supports, blacked out?

A little odd... but that's Ok... I like stuff you don't see everyday.
I'm sure it looks crazy with the bags on. I'm not hot on the Honda ST look of integrated bags anyway.
Not bad as-is though.

Definitely +1 on a bigger headlight (or a pair) for proportion.

No experience with the ST1100 myself, but both my fully faired Concours and Daytona 1200 were both really hot in the summertime. I did something similar on the Daytona; removed the lowers. It looked good and was noticeably cooler. Maybe that's what the ST owner was after?
If he live in So Cal he could run the fairing through the winter till May or June, then strip down like the photo for the summer.

I like it better that way!
Has a bit of the Boss Hoss look with the transverse V, plugs sticking out the side and exhaust manifolds. but until you do something about those cans it's still going to sound like a sewing machine!

My sentiments exactly. I have the 8 inch headlight from a Seca 650 on my GL1100. The big girls look good with big headlights.
Side panels below the tank that come down to just above the valve covers would look good, and I would ditch the exhaust covers. That would be enough to clean it right up. If it was mine I would shorten the exhaust can, and it would be nice if there was a way to get rid of the two panels above the front of the exhaust can.
I can see doing this to a stocker myself. I want to like the ST, and I know they are a great bike, but there's just too much plastic.
As this bike is, I would gladly ride it.
Nice work.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. That said, if you think this bike looks better than a stock one your taste is in your ass.
No offense to the op - if this bike's farings got messed up and you don't want to spend the money for replacements, this is a reasonable solution.

I prefer a ride that doesn't result in rocks 'n shit hitting me, getting sick after riding in sub 50 degree weather and having my ears ring all summer from wind noise. I also like to be able to carry stuff - sometimes I actually use my bike other than for recreation. Call me crazy.

I rode a shield-less Valkyrie for 5 years and a 919 for 1 year, I'll never go back to a naked bike. More power to you, although it is a matter of time before you get hit with a nice size rock. One broke the skin on my nuckle through my glove one time.
Btw, earplugs actually do something to stop wind noise? since when?

I like the idea. I think they need a smaller front fender... one that doesn't look like it belongs on a fully-faired bike. The larger headlight is a good idea, too. It'd probably look better without the windshield, or with a bikini fairing.

Well I've been riding naked for over thirty years, and no rocks so far...knock on wood
I did catch a big hard bug on the bridge of my sunglasses at 75 mph on a gravel road one day...almost took me off the bike
Not a problem with a full face helmet.
Actually I've been wearing noise cancelling earbuds lately. They work great too.

Just last Fri I had a nice size rock ping off my shield at 80 mph, would have hit me in the shoulder or chest.
I've also had a rock hit my helmet hard enough to take paint off. Maybe it's where I live (rocky mts) that there's more rocks kicked up by traffic?
Anyway, glad you enjoy naked bikes, again, you can have 'em.

It needs some custom headers. Those aluminum castings don;t look athat sharp. The electrical and plastic junk near the steering head above the engine could use some kind of cover.

If you're asking for opinions, I think it's ugly. Nakedness does not suit that bike. But hey, you know what they say about opinions..

I'm with Justin on this one. Although it would be near impossible to make an ST1100 good looking. It's true

Gotta disagree. Right now the naked 11 is at the same point as the first generation Goldwing -- a Japanese morphing of a Euro classic. The Wing was a 4 cyl version of the BMW R90. Yes, more complex with 4 cyls and liquid cooling but there were benefits too. The naked ST suggests a 4 cyl Moto Guzzi V 11. Yes heavier, more complex, and not Italian, but so was the 'Wing 30 years ago compared to the Beemer (except for the Italian part anyway).
I ask everyone here, if Honda had taken a GL 1000, put it on a diet, added a bikini faring and Hondaline hard bags, who of us wouldn't be sport touring on it right now?
I commend the naked ST for being the closest thing to that GL 1000-S that anyone has come up with in a long time.

Sorry, I'm with Sammy and Justin on this one - that thing is ugly as shite. At least fully faired it's just bland & boring; half-stripped it just looks stooopid and out of balance.

I did, it was my first ST bike. But it was an 1100.

Gotta agree, those early GW's looked fine naked. The ST, uh, not so much. Somethings, such as your grandmother, are not meant to be seen naked.
