I've started looking at a FZ6 as a replacement for my current steed, I've found one that a finance company owns as a repo its a 06 with 19k miles on it and the guy said the rear tire is bald and the chain guard needs replaced. To me this sounds like the previous owner did a burn out before giving it back.

Without being able to take a look at the engine is there anyway to tell if this possible burn out cooked the engine? Any tips are welcomed, including run away fast  EEK!

The FZ has a bullet proof engine but the "needs new chain guard" is a bit of a concern. Makes you wonder why, did the PO run the chain to loose and it whacked the guard or what and if you try hard enough you can screw up the motor. I'd look around a bit and see if you can find a better deal from someone with some maintenance records, just my $.02 worth Smile

yea the bank said something about it being a two piece chain guard and it was missing the rear piece...any truth to this? I also talked to them again and they said that both the front and rear are bald..which makes me think that maybe there wasn't a burn out but just old tires idk?

Not sure about the 06 but my 09 has the chain guard and inner fender as one piece. I'd check someone like Bike Bandit's web site, they have exploded diagrams that should show the configuration of the guard for an 06.
