I think it's definitely a good deal. Shit, I'd even consider it and I'm really adverse to paying that much for a vehicle. However, I'm a bit concerned about KTM's position in the US and the health of its dealer group.

My local dealer has a KTM master tech and they sell KTM off road bikes like they're going out of style.  If you feel comfortable with your local dealer, you can't go wrong w/ the bike.  Every day I own mine sets a new record on how long I've kept a single bike.   Lol

It's about $1000 over the retail value of a used 08, but you are getting the full warranty.  Seems reasonable.

Just saw this video comparison yesterday, and it's impressive that the KTM rises as the favorite even against the newer Duc Streetfighter and the Brutale 990R.

Like buying leftover cars...good deal if you are going to keep it, not so good if you are gonna trade or sell it in a coupla years...

Only when price is the determining factor - watch the last few seconds. Me? I'd love any one of them, but I'm partial to twins, and not so hot for Desmo, so the KTM is it.

but Im just falling in love with the superduke.

I want something a little more fun to ride when im alone than my sprint............ is that too much to ask????

To be clear: I plan on keeping the sprint.

I've seen new '08's listed in the $8500.00 range on e-bay. Naturally that doesn't include local taxes, title, and plating. If those fees are included in the 10k price it's not too bad. If you want to see what can be acquired in the low mileage used market visit the "vendors" section on this site. I bought the SD listed here and it included about $4,600.00 worth of aftermarket Akrapovic exhaust and c/f fender, Rizoma mirrors, grips, countershaft cover, KTM carbon solo seat cover, hugger, heel guards, touring screen, anodized brake & clutch fluid covers,DNA air filter, and a bunch of other stuff. At full MSRP for bike and parts this was over $19,000.00 invested. A great bike with a minimal dealer network and lousy resale value.

My point of view- If I was shopping for a new(er) bike and the KTM was in the price range of what I wanted to spend, I would have left my car at the dealer and rode the 'Duke home!

Just my thoughts...

Don't know how you feel about mods and "upgrades," but my S2R should needed a LOT of them... so the OTD price was only the beginning!

this was over $19,000.00 invested.

How does spending too much $ on a depreciating asset = "invested"? Headscratch

Probably should be added to the CL tips thread...oh, it's kinda in there regarding (originally fat-fingered "retarding") the $4k paint job.

What's freak care, the PO "invested" it.  Now freak has a nice bike!  Think of him as a hedge bike fund manager.

I like them superdukes too!!
