Much better idea. However, if you plan it right you can also do it in such a way that you don't have to pack up and move on every day. You can have a series of 2 nights in a few stops etc. For example, something like this gives you relatively short mileage per day (most days), and two  2-night stays (in Lake Louise and New Denver)

Day 1: Calgary-Longview-Kananaskis Country-Lake Louise.
Day 2: Lake Louise-Jasper-Lake Louise.
Day3: Lake Louise-Revelstoke-Nakusp-New Denver
Day 4: New Denver-Castlegar-Salmo-Creston-Kaslo-New Denver
Day5: New Denver-Vernon-Kelowna-Penticton
Day6: Penticton-Princeton-Merrit
Day 7: Merrit-Lillooet-Vancover
Day8: Vancouver-Nanaimo-Tofino.

Sputniks plan looks very good!  The only thing I might change is, you could probably do Calgary to Jasper one day, then back to Lake Louise and on to Revelstoke the next...

Sputniks plan looks like it'll work for me. It'll give me a bit of flexibility if the weather is crappy and we have to spend a day inside.  Smile

A warm rainy day at the Hume in Nelson would be very romantic.   Inlove

1/2 hour N. of Nelson is the Ainsworth Hot Springs.   Definately worth a stop, especially if the GF is getting a bit sore.   IMO they're the nicest developed hotsprings in Canada.  Another set of Hotsprings worth going to are the Nakusp Hotsprings,   noteworthy for the road going to them.   Wink

Lehman's Hotel in Naksup has a huge deck overlooking the lake, and good food.

Yeah, the deck is big...but the "food" is questionable IMO...

Had a great breakfast, and very good burger there.   The Key Lime Pie was good too.

Note:  I didn't say GREAT Food.  But I was quite happy with what I got.

What I really want to do is sit on that deck, drink beer, eat munchies and watch the sun set.

Let us know if you're heading up to Calgary from the south (e.g. Glacier NP / Waterton area).  I assume you won't want to do the Trans-Canada.......

I'd go on the BC side up 93.  That or hit the sweepers in Kananaskis.  No need to ride in the city unless you have to.
