Local paper has a 2000 bandit 600 for sale with 20K miles for $2500.  I'd like to hear from anyone that knows the bike on what it 's like and what to expect and look out for.  Past bikes include a C-10 Concours and a DL1000.  Current bike is a DR650, just looking for a lightweight mid-size I can do some distance on.  Thanks for any replies.

The Bandits are pretty much bullet-proof. They use an oil-cooled and slightly detune old-school GSXR engine, which is rock solid. Check second gear for slipping.

Other than that, check the basics that you would for any bike purchase. They are very comfortable for a sporty bike, and they handle very well.

Overall a good choice if you want something sporty without being a supersport.

Love my 03 B6!

Just make sure you check all of the "normal" things when buying used.  The only distinct thing.......  When you take it out for the first time, there is a buzzing noise "The Bandit Buzz" from the fairing if it's an "S" model at 4500-5500 rpm.  Easy fix with some silicone caulk at the mating surfaces.

Other than that.......  +1 on what "zixxerpilot" stated.  Bulletproof!

I waited a day to long to call and was beat out on the Bandit.  There is a 2008 Wee Strom in there now, but the bank still has the title.  How hard is it to get?  Never bought a bike that didn't have a new or clear title on it.  Or I could just grit it out on the DR and just take my time traveling somewhere.  It's a great bike for up to about 65, after that tiring.
