62nd running of the Peoria TT was won by Henry Wiles -- you don't often see the leader laps other riders at Peoria, but Wiles musta lapped half the field . .  .

Lest it sound boring with the race winner so far ahead of the next rider, rest assured, the battles for second, third and fourth were outstanding!

Ya shoulda been there --

What is it with Hammerin' Hank and right turn/jump tracks?  Wow

Looks like another year of great weather, too. I stayed home and saved money. Lol

Glad ya had fun, Jeff --

Beej -- nah, the weather was awful, the racing mediocre, the people watching flat (I usually go to these races because I return home feeling young and fit {grading on a curve}). Ya missed nothing at all (cept some distinguished company).

Mediocre racing or not, I'm jealous of anyone who gets to attend the Peoria TT. Other than the absence of Stromgal, it must have been great. Are they going to change to the name to reflect Wiles domination?

How was the 450 singles race? JD Beach is one hell of a rider and it must have been fun to watch. Good to see NorCal product Tyler O'Hara finish 4th.  Thumbsup

It really wasn't mediocre -- I was trying to make BJ feel bettter about it.

The incredibly poorly named named "Pro Singles" races were really good.

Last year, the kids couldn't get through turn one without falling down like a pack of beagles  . . . . . . (the Pro Singles Main at last year's Springfield Short Track race took over an hour to finish, for all the turn 1 get offs and other yellows) . . .this year, the riding and racing was much better -- Beach IS a wonder to behold -- it'll be fun to watch him climb the ranks.

Oh, yeah, and the pork chop sammishes were horrid, too.

Singles race was much closer.  JD couldn't have won by more than a bike length.  Carver who finished second was past him at least once but couldn't stay there.
JD is a helluva rider.  Looking forward to seeing him at Indy this weekend at the mile.  Last time I saw him two years ago at Indy he was the RedBull rookie cup champ.  Also read that he's moving up to race the expert class for the Springfield Mile.    Thumbsup

And yes pork chop sammies do rock.

Hammerin' Hank was in a class by himself yesterday. He was feet up and shifting halfway through turn two where everybody else was out of the corner before shifting.

And that Beach and Carver final was a hell of a good race. They were never more than a couple of bike length apart almost touching tires heading up the jump.

I would have posted photos by now but my hard drive died today. Gonna be another day or so before I'm back up and running again.

The youngins race was exciting! They brought their
A game to the main. It was a whole other level from the heats.

And in the main main. That Wiles rode the hell out of that Kawasaki. He had half a lap on the backmarkers by lap 3. It didn't take him long to lap them. I'd be interested to find out how many guys he lapped.

Agreed Bomber. Here's how Tyler O'Hara (AMA road racer/NorCal Supermoto Champion/Dirt tracker) described the Peoria TT on his Facebook page:
Quote
Peoria TT was the coolest track I have raced, hit the jump 4th gear WFO fly 130ft, land go from 3rd gear to 5th gear two inches off the chain linked fence then back it in going around 100mph on dirt with 20,000 people in thunder valley. priceless.

There are some really good photos on the AMA Pro Flat Track site:

Here's my favorite:   EEK! EEK! EEK!

Hank just knows how to go fast there. Only Schnabel is even in the ballpark with the "King of Peoria" there and he is not in the picture this yr. Watch Hank jump . He goes OUT and LOW and the rest lose time going upwards and waiting to land. He clearly gets off the corners faster too. He is the Sonny Burres of this era! That boy can ride TTs!

Bryan Smith and Bill Werner make history, Kawasaki for the win at the Indy Mile. Great battle between he and Chris Carr, who with 2nd place took his 200th podium!

I know the Indy Mile is the latest race, but here's a favorite that I shot at the Peoria TT just last weekend. I still have lots to go through.
