I voted for the Sprint because:

 A: It'a a nice step up from the FZ6

 B: It can handle 2-up if needed, but still light enough to be lots of fun solo.

 C: It's the bike I want. Yes I'm biased.

This was really a tuff choice between the ST3 with ABS and the Concours 14 with ABS, but in the end I had to stick with Kawi.
 
After seeing it in person, actually sitting on one, and reading test reports on the C14, if I dont like it can I change my vote??

Connie-14 has WAY too much power for a sport-tourer. While fun to twist the wrist on, you'll go thru rear tires like U-kno-whaaat thru a goose !
 
Sport-touring is about a balance of ALL things.
 
Get U a beemer, 120hp is plenty !!!

What's the criteria? If 2-up isn't your primary concern, I'd say "other", and do a VFR.

VFR is not a sport-tourer.  It's just a slow heavy sport bike with a slightly bigger fairing.  Oh, that's right, they added hard bags and then screwed up the power delivery with that valve/exhaust thingie.

2-up isn't a big concern, but I'm hoping that will change;) , so for right now, it's a bit more weather protection than the FZ, some extras (heated grips, hard luggage, shaftie?), and a little more comfort, but still a healthy dose of fun. Something that would be fun on a two lane, but still do okay if you needed to make some time and slab it some.

I plan on the FJR being my next bike.  Not sure about that AE version though.

I love my Triumph, but I don't know how great 2-up would be on a Sprint.  

If it were my hard earned cash, and keeping to your list, I would opt for the FJR.  As stated before by StacyT, I would also avoid the AE as I can't imagine not slipping a clutch at low speeds, and I have yet to read it's all that great.  I would also be wary of any year one bike in the case of the Connie.  At least wait for some ride reports before you jump in.

To much power is like bad pizza or bad sex.  THERE IS NO SUCH THING!  You are right about balance, but those with skills and wills can balance on only one wheel.
