Look for LuckyDevil's threads.  She travelled the country for months on her FZ6.

A couple (man and wife)  rode from BC to LA, to New Orleans to Miami, and then back, on an FZ6. They logged all fuel stops, mileage, where they stayed, where they ate, etc. Cycle Canada Magazine did an article on their journey. they even got over 60 mpg the whole trip, with one leg ober 65 mpg. That was with triple Givi hard bags and a drybag or 2 as well.   If I recall they added bar risers, custom seat, back rest pad onto the trunk, and touring windscreeen, and maybe a throttlemeister. They said it eeasily hauled the two of them and their luggage anywhere they needed to go, at any speed they desired.

Yeah, go fer it!  I've heard the FZ-6 is a little buzzy, so maybe you'd want to invest in a bar snake, but it's a neat bike.

Actually, I've had a recurring dream where I had bought one, and felt terribly guilty about it.  Confused Lol

I have an FZ6 and have taken in on a few 3day 1000mile weekends. All my traveling on the FZ is solo. I have never had a problem or concern. Long stints on the interstate (over 3 hours) are not real relaxing but the FZ doesn't seem to mind. I would probably upgrade the seat if I was going to spend 4+ long days in the saddle. I have no concerns with buzzyness or peg-seat-bars ergos. With tourmaster sport bags and the duffel top bag I can easily pack all necessary items for an extended day moto-camping excursion. I find it all my needs for extended weekends, day trips to the twisties, and commuting/a great commuter/around town. I have never taken it on anything longer than 3 days. I do have a dedicated tourer for those week+ vacations and two up riding.

That's a good price on that fizzer!

I have taken mine on long trips, seat aside it fairs well. Not that the seat is hateful, but the design has two hard lines that really cut into the inner thigh on extended rides. I have mine out right now getting customized, just cant see the prices going for saddles. Corbin and Top Saddlery are the two most popular. There is nothing comfortable about Yamaha's Gel Comfort seat, it's no upgrade.

I also have the taller shield from Yamaha and a Throttlemeister on my 06.

Is buzziness ever an issue? I'm thinking of upgrading to the fz6 this summer from my 500r which is a little to buzzy for long trips.

25,000 miles on my 2004 FZ6.  Great lightweight tourer for solo rider.  I'd want something with a little more torque for two up but you can do.

800 miles on my new ride.....a 2009 FZ6!  Can't get enough of a good thing, plus they were giving them away because discontinued and stock issues based on last years economy meltdown.
