I wanted to wait until his wife had been told before posting this (I got the news before she did), but Jeremy's teammate and manager of San Diego BMW MC, Gary Orr, had a bad crash in practice the other day.

Gary went to race at Daytona this weekend.  During the first practice following lots of rain, about one or two laps from pitting, Gary was on the back strait going into turn 9, hit a slick painted area on the track, high-sided and came down hard.  He was taken to the ER ICU.  After an MRI, the damage report is:  Bruises to his face, forehead and around the eyes, broken scapula, broken rib, broken collar bone, about 5 cracked vertebrae in his neck area and some disk compression, minor puncture to one or both lungs, and a broken thumb.  The neck injuries are probably of the most concern.  Doctors are likely to recommend a "halo" type neck immobilizer.  Unsure when they'll release him, possibly mid to late next week.  Gary's spirits are good, all things considered.  His wife is now there and with him.

Gary was very excited to be making this Daytona appearance.  Once his injuries are sorted and he's not in imminent danger, he'll be feeling really down about the whole thing.  I wish him the best- he's a really great guy, and he was so excited about making his first AMA start in almost twenty years.

He seems to be smiling in this photo, but that might just be the pain meds:

I'll post more about his condition as things change.

Really sorry to hear about the crash. Will send good thoughts his way.

Watched the races today. Top 10 AMA SBK finish just rocks!   Bigok  Nice face time for Jeremy with Greg White on the grid before race 2.

How much of the AMA season are you planning to run at this point?

We have the funding and the logistics to run the entire AMA season.  Gary's crash puts him out for the next few months, but hopefully he can race the second half.

Sorry to hear about Garry's crash. Best wishes for a fast recovery. Speaking of recoveries, how are you feeling Miles?

Great job at Daytona and a big  Thumbsup to the whole effort. I've just read interviews and comments by Jeremy in RRW. Never seen him interviewed on TV until last night. Good to see the team get some TV time and that the censors didn't have to hit the bleep button.  Lol

On his bike, for the rider name, it says "Jeremy Fucking Toye".  I told him I'd give him $20 if he could get through any interviews without dropping the F bomb.  Now I just need to find out if he was good, or whether they just did a good job of editing them out!

I'm doing OK, thanks.  Went out for a nice ride this last sunday:

This week I've had single dad duty while my wife was visiting her sister back east, so no rides for me.

Geez, that sucks, but at least he's around to wear the thing.

Heal fast Gary and good luck to the unofficial Team ST.n for the rest of the season!

Gary is going to be in Daytona for a few more days, but when he gets back to civilization I'll pass on the positive encouragement.

I'm doing OK, thanks.  Went out for a nice ride this last sunday:

My trainer was down in LA running the LA Marathon through that stuff that day. Smile

Sorry to hear about Gary!  I hope he heals all up and can get riding again.  Now...I'm wondering how one bruises around their eyes like that.   EEK!

The marathon was last weekend, and that ride was the weekend before.

The eye damage was from dirt.  His visor flew off and his helmet scooped a big helping of terra none-too-firma straight into his face.  A lot of it got under his eyelids, and had to be cleaned out.  Nasty.

Holy shite on Garry's crash damage.  How'd I miss that?  Dirt in his eyes too?  He's lucky to be alive but they better keep those meds flowing.   Best wishes and good luck with the team until he gets back.  Thumbsup

I've often wondered...  If he's lucky to be alive, but unlucky to have hit that slick spot that highsided him, how does that balance out?

Yeah- he'll be racing the NW 200 in preparation for the IOMTT. Sadly, not with our team, though.
