Is it a 250 or 250F?

You are going to need an aftermarket stator (or have the one in the bike rewound if it is  possible) and rectifier before you can add the lighting kit. A stator off a Wr250 should work.

I read your post as the bike being a YZ250, which shouldn't have stock lighting. If it's already plated with lights, then adding turn signals is pretty easy. Around here $1700 for that bike in good condition would be about right, if not a fairly decent deal.

In that case, turn signals should be no problem to wire up. I really like the guys at SICASS Racing for dual sport kits and the like. Their turn signal kits are about $160, which is about the average price for them. If you know how to wire it up yourself with a flasher you can do it a lot cheaper.

Personally, I've found buying the prewired kits to be a "better" deal when considering all the wiring, splices, and plugs you have to buy. Add to that planning out all the wiring and what to put where, the $160 starts to sound pretty good. I like figuring all of it out and doing it myself, what I don't like is having my bike torn down for a week because I don't have a lot of time to work on it. Plus when I add up the individual parts I bought to save some money, I never saved as much as I thought I would and would have been better off getting something plug and play.

The Yamaha WRs and YZs are good bikes. If you do purchase it, I'm sure you will be pleased.

EEK!   it was a decent looking bike but it had oil in the fins, coming from who knows where but it was sprayed all over and dripping in some spots, he said he was a mechanic, sure he was,

i rode it and it acted weird like it took a high idle and wanted to run, so i stopped and adjusted the idle down, still had a surge to it , then i seen that the motor was hot enough to burn off the residue,

so i offered 1600 and then seen new oil mist, so then i siad i needed to ask a friend, so i went to a shop and got prices on the gasket kits and approximate labor, easy 300 bucks, and thats only if it was a gasket, i would'nt want to know if it was worse lol

i'm no mechanic by no means but wouldn't you notice an oil leak????????

I'd steer clear of that bike. there are to many good running ones around to inherit with someones problems.
