So, while desert_rider and I were at our demo on Saturday, one of the guys was talking about a factory assisted effort to run a new Multi on Pike's Peak.  They were talking wet weight around 400lbs and rear wheel bhp of around 150  EEK!.  They said they had a dyno run up into the 140's already without exhuast.  I think yeah that sounds like a nice plan, good luck with that.

So I go to drop off my new to me Tiger at Race Tech today and I see this sitting in one of the bays.

So I Ask one of the suspension gurus there, "what is that doing here already"? He says,  "I think thats the Pike's Peak bike getting preped".

Sounds like a fun venture, I look forward to following this one and wishing them well  Thumbsup.

The last thing I would have done is given Race Tech my Ohlin's forks (or any forks) to work on.   Crazy

Whats the problem with Race Tech?  I did a bit of research and didn't find anything negative on the Tiger boards.  Do you know something I should know?  Please PM me if you don't want to badmouth the company on a public forum.

Edited for clarifiaction that I'm very interested in you opinion of Race Tech as I just dropped my bike off for a full work over.

Two complaints...one material issue and one workmanship issue with the Race Tech guy down there.

1.  Materials.  A friend of mine has a 25mm Racetech Cartridge kit in his R6.  When getting it freshened up by the local suspension guy it turned out the valve body (rebound I think) was not flat on either side.  This made the shim sit flexed and couldn't make a proper seal.

2.  Workmanship.  The rod in the middle of the cartridge had tooling marks that made it look like someone took vise grips to hold it and remove it.  This isn't the only set of forks i've heard someone mention having that from the same people.  To do it properly you need a vise and the right adapter....something a suspension tuner should have.


So yeah....I like GP Suspension, Traxxion or Ohlin's stuff.  No experience with others to make an opinon.  My local guy is a GP Suspension and Ohlin's guy so that also influences me as to what I get.   For the record my race bike is Ohlins 25mm kit up front and a Ohlins rear shock.

The Hypermotard did very well at Pike's Peak the other year (I recall it won the 1200cc class).  I wonder if the more powerful yet heavier MTS will do better or worse.  Both bikes use 17" tires.

Looking at the picture of that bike answers two pressing questions I had for the Multi12 & asthetics.

1) Would a blacked out, "shorty screen," look badass?  
Answer: Damned-straight!

2) Would a white arrow-head stripe pointing to the front of the bike look badass?

 last saturday at our local trackday... there was one of those Doug Polen trackdays sponsored by
dna...you know, buy the bike, get the goodies do a trackday kind of thing.
One of the instructors took one out later on the afnoon, so I stick behind for a couple of laps to check it out,
i did not got the chance to ride it...it's no superbike, but let's say; you'll have a lot of fun on a mountain pass!... Thumbsup

Big Surprise!

MTS1200 wins its class (1205cc) at Pike's Peak, finishing 50-seconds before the second place winner, a Buell XBSTT.  Another Duc MTS1200 took 3rd.
