Over on the Guzzitech board I was asking about a headlight protector for the Sport.  It seems as though I took a good sized rock to the headlight and the plastic lens has chipped.

Ventura is the company that I was directed to and they do make a unit for the 1200 Sport; ordering straight from their website is possible but they want the exorbitant amount of $20 for shipping.  Now $20 isn't too bad for a large or heavy part but for a $29 piece of lexan...

Anyway,  I came up with a guy who can order them for $29 + $6 shipping to your door; however I've just learned that the US distributor doesn't have any in stock and it will take 4-6 weeks to arrive.  My thought is that if anyone else is interested it might be a good time to order since he's already getting one.

I've been dealing with Howard Roth, email at cyclemed@yahoo.com and you can visit his website at http://www.dandyindustries.biz/

FWIW I get nothing extra or discounted if you order, just trying to help people out.

Here's the link:  http://www.ventura-mca.com/products/lightguard.aspx

The catalog says 2007 Sport but the picture is definitely correct for the 2008.

Have you come up with a throttle lock that works well on your 1200 Sport yet?  You have been very helpful with a lot of these technical and aftermarket questions, and I for one want to give you a thanks!  Thumbsup

Well thank you.

However I don't use a throttle lock, never have.

And on a completely unrelated note, is the Copper Queen Hotel still open in Bisbee?  I stayed there about 20+ years ago about when Brewery Gulch was beginning to bestir and revive.  Bisbee and Jerome were two of my favorite towns when I lived in AZ.

Oh yes, the Copper Queen is still open.  They had one of the best restaurants in town; recently they got some new owners and I haven't been there since so I don't know how the food is.

Headlight protector arrived in the mail today.

I'm pretty pleased with it.

For right now I'm going to install it with the white fuzzy stuff it comes with but depending upon how that holds up I may get some 3M hook & loop further down the road.

I lost the one on my V-Strom but that was after some admittedly rough riding and very little inspection on the Dalton highway.

That's the biggest contact lens I've ever seen in my life.   EEK!
