It is All About the Ride

Ignore
« on: March 10, 2007, 04:48:36 PM »

I am going on a Pashnit Motorcycle Tour in Northern California in April. I ride a Hayabusa, I will have the RKA 51 liter saddlebags and a tank bag.  I will be riding for between four to six days total. The tour is only three days long, but I have more time off from work, so I might take the long way home to San Diego. I want to know how many changes of clothes I should bring with me? And what else I should take with me.  :headscratch:I am asking now, even though I have a little more than a month to go. I want to make sure that I have everything I need before I leave. Any suggestions or help is greatly appreciated.

Is this your first long ride?

My suggestion is to pack light...if you are riding everyday you will generally not need to worry about new clothes each day.  I would pack for 3 days and do laundry in the evening if you have to.

What I would definatly *not* do is fill up that luggage of yours.

I agree with what Mr Sunshine said. Take a small container of some laundry detergent (enough to do one or two loads of laundry) and some quarters and do some laundry one night.

You live in California and your're taking an organized tour in your home state? OK... Headscratch

A six day tour? You're not going on a long enough tour that you need to wash clothes, so I'd bring an extra 2 or 3 of each: shirts, underwear and socks. They take up very little room. And if you're worried, bring a small zip-lock bag of laundry detergent.

Southern California and Northern California have almost nothing in common other than the name.

It's an entirely different riding experience and landscape in NoCal from WAY down (800 miles) in San Diego where thirdjoe lives.   Wink

All you need for a 3-6 day trip is as many skivvies as you normally would use for that many days and a couple of shirts, along with your tooth brush.  Everything should fit in your tank bag.  I took Miss TejasBusa on a 4 day trip to California and back to Texas and was WAAAYYYY overpacked using a tank bag and a tail bag.  The 2 extra jeans and half of my shirts were never unrolled.

A trip with Pashnit sounds like fun, when you are done, tell us about it.

Be prepared for a 40-45 mph average for your six days, not counting your ride to and from.

This one is kind of funny.  Lol  95% (at least) are local riders going on a local tour- 3-4 days. Just leave it at that.  Wink And all manner of motorcycle! 50/50 split of Harleys, Cruisers, Sportbikes, Standards, Sport-touring bikes. OK indeed!!  Beerchug

Btw, all the pics of Joe's tour are here: Clicky for Photo Thread Linky - Great time!!
