Well, in fairness, I did spend about $2000 going to get it, as part of an impromptu family vacation to Florida and a couple of days at Disney and Orlando.  Lol

yeah, that counts.  Add $500 for shipping, no more.

Still a good deal.

"I'm a bike whore*, whatever fits the moment"

Since I got into sport-touring (non cruisers), I've acquired 4 new bikes, 3 used, and 1 dealer demo.  I don't mind buying used at all.  But, a few of my purchases were on bikes which were just released and no used market existed.

All of my bikes in the last 10 yrs have been new, but I found a very nice lightly used SV650S while I was out shopping for the Bandit replacement this Spring. It had most of the farkles I would have gotten anyway and I saved a few grand. That savings has now paid for suspension upgrades and cash to spare. If it wasn't in such nice condition and so low mileage I wouldn't have considered it. I guess sometimes its worth looking though Wink

bike whore vote, but in reply-

I think a lot of first buyers are new bike buyers. And then they figure out it ain't for them after they have amassed all of 2000 miles in 3 years or something like that.

Me, the 3rd bike I bought was a new leftover. No regrets on that. Kept it for 5 years, the longest I have had a bike. Since then I've gone through a few more in much shorter duration. Although I really like my current 2 bikes and they are paid off. The Gixxer is a previous salvage, so I have sunk to the ultimate low! Granted, it was an easy fix and I'm using it primarily as my track bike. The dirt bike has gone through the wringer a few times by previous owners, and my choice was either get a cheap used dirt bike or go without.

I would love a 3rd bike, one that gets some serious mileage put on it. And with that in mind, I want a bike that I will really be crazy about. That might mean buying new to fall in love with that next bike. If only I can afford it. Sad

I buy used.  New vehicles aren't worth it, the depreciation loss is simply unacceptable to me.  Besides, your "new" bike will be a "used" bike in a few months.  Was that newness worth 1/3 of its purchase price?  Somebody's got to take that hit, but it ain't gonna be me.  Twofinger
