Ok ... it is that time to commit your attendance at this years event.

Here is what is happening.

Friday at my place. We will have Borscht and the usual sausages and salad.  I think this will run about $10-$15 per person depending on attendance numbers.

Saturday at A-Mans cabin. This will be BBQ, salads and good eats put together by our own Lizzabet. Menu details to follow but figure on traditional family BBQ !! Yum !
Lizabet figures about $20 per person for this ...

Saturday Morning Breakfast ... we have been offered the Lions Head Pub for breaky. It is about a km from my house and a perfect spot. Need a head count though ... So please let me know if you want a sit down breakfast on Saturday morning.

BYOB ... camping at A-Mans and in my back yard and limited accomodation at my house. Otherwise you are on your own in booking camping at Pass Creek Park or motelling it in town. If you need recommendations and phone numbers PM me. If there is a huge request to stay at my house I may do it via a lottery to be fair.


I will also confirm who has submitted for a tshirt in this thread.

For the Edmonton people,  we're open to leaving Wend evening or Thursday, and taking a scenic route there....   Glaceir N.P springs to mind.

Holy Cow Jim!     You are having a difficult time understanding me.  The BBQ is going to be catered, not by the Pub or by me, but by my own special caterer.  This frees me up to be able to enjoy the day instead of slaving in the kitchen.
I thank all those who in the past have given me wonderful hostess treats; they have truly been appreciated.     As you know it takes  time and effort in order to pull this weekend off.

The BBQ menu, still under planning, will include a snack to enjoy on the deck,  an undecided sacrificial beast lovingly BBQed by Alphabetman,  various side dishes, perhaps even a dessert.  We will have  non alcoholic beverages available.  $20 a head will cover the BBQ; please pay me on Friday night.
If you wish to partake in alcoholic beverages you will have to provide your own.  If space is an issue for you and you don't want to pack your case of beer on your bike you can send stuff out with me on Friday night.

I look forward to seeing old friends and meeting new ones.  Ride safe.

Yup, that's the right link (doubt there'd be two vintage Norton rallys in Lumby on any one day...).

If you check the schedule (here), you'll see that the "Concourse" starts around 2:00 and goes 'till 5:00.  It'd nice to see the Concourse, but in order to be back at A-man's place for the BBQ in any kind of a reasonable time frame, I'm thinking I'd have to be headed back by 2:00.  But I'm sure there will be enough old Nortons kicking around to lood at, whether set up on a "Concourse" or not.

I'm thinking...hmmm...brekke at 7:00, on the road by 8:00, should be in Lumby by noon or shortly after, a quick lunch and wander among the vintage bikes, then head back.

Any ideas to add, I'm open.

I think I said I was in for breakfast on a pm to you, though really I just want to hang out with the cool kids whatever they do. One hand, a big sit-down breakfast seems to cut down on riding time, the other hand, I'm not likely to just go out riding all by myself in a foreign land. For sure, I could ride all day long with an odd snack or two at fuel stops. Like I said, I'm aiming to go with the flow...

Oh yes.  Look up some of the "Banff Run" Threads.

 Nice route choices! Some of the more entertaining stretches of pavement anywhere, you will find in there...especially Spences Bridge to Princeton, and Green Mountain Road (and Westside road , but there is too much traffic on it nowadays to speed, although it still beats the hell outta inching your way through Kelowna).
 Princeton- Keremeos- Osoyoos to Castlegar over Highway 3 would be substantially shorter, but nowhere near as entertaining.

Good news is, I still have tomorrow off.  Bad news is, I have some errands to run here in town to get ready for a business trip that will delay me leaving on my fun trip, to the point that it might be late in the day before I can even start heading that way.

Even worse news, the corporate travel agency screwed up my flight out of Vancouver on Sunday.  I was supposed to be on a 7:15 PM flight, which would have been doable with a very early start out of Castlegar on Sunday morning.  But they actually booked me on a 4:00 flight, and now the 7:15 flight is full.  No way I can leave Castlegar in daylight and be at YVR in time to get through customs and security for the 4:00 flight.

After thinking it over real hard, I'm doing the sensible thing and cancelling my KBBB visit this year. Sometimes I hate my practical side.

The bright side is I did make it over there earlier in the year, sans borscht.  Maybe I'll swing that way again some weekend later this summer.

Actually ....

My dad just went into the ICU at the hospital.  I had just packed the motorcycle last night (Wedn.)   when we got a call that we'd better get out there.  We got there at 10  pm,  by 1:30 things had improved.   At noon today, he seemed OK  but by 5 he had another episode.   By 9 pm he'd stabilized again.   He'll probably survive, but it's not a guarantee.

We're not gonna make it to the BBBBQ,  in Sept we hope to be going to the Pacific Coast Highway, and hope to see you then, if not earlier.
I've been looking forward to this for 11.5 months. I even dug up my old Speedo.  Spandex appears to have an increadible ability to S T R E T C H.  

It sucks not making it there.  My Dad even told me to go ahead (he loves motorcycles too) but better safe than sorry, right?  

I was really looking forward to riding with new and old friends.

My dad just went into the ICU at the hospital.  I had just packed the motorcycle last night (Wedn.)   when we got a call that we'd better get out there.  We got there at 10  pm,  by 1:30 things had improved.   At noon today, he seemed OK  but by 5 he had another episode.   By 9 pm he'd stabilized again.   He'll probably survive, but it's not a guarantee.

We're not gonna make it to the BBBBQ,  in Sept we hope to be going to the Pacific Coast Highway, and hope to see you then, if not earlier.
I've been looking forward to this for 11.5 months. I even dug up my old Speedo.  Spandex appears to have an increadible ability to S T R E T C H.  

It sucks not making it there.  My Dad even told me to go ahead (he loves motorcycles too) but better safe than sorry, right?  

I was really looking forward to riding with new and old friends.

Sorry to hear about your Dad, I will send all my good Karma his way!  Geez the BBand BBQ just wont be the same with out you guys but you have to do what's right.  We'll miss yah (can't believe I said that)

After thinking it over real hard, I'm doing the sensible thing and cancelling my KBBB visit this year. Sometimes I hate my practical side.

The bright side is I did make it over there earlier in the year, sans borscht.  Maybe I'll swing that way again some weekend later this summer.

Everyone ride safe, have fun, and watch out for the Vaseline.  

Geoff has a reason you on the other hand letting common sense and work (as I type this from my office   ) get in the way,    tsk tsk I am disapointed, hopefully we will catch up to yo some other time, Yah we will miss you too

I went through some similar episodes with my own father; although he did pull through I'm sure glad I went down and spent some time with him while he was in hospital.

Funny thing is,  while I was there yesterday, thru the mask and between gasps for air, he asks me why I'm not on my motorcycle trip.


Of course if I hadn't been there, I'd hear about it for years to come,  he doesn't forget anything.

Home again after a wonderful 5 days of riding.  A nice leisurely 1900km on the Ducatis.  After our rain on the first evening getting to Radium it was a toasty warm, sunny ride.

Thanks again to the Zanetti family & the Alphabet people.  It was great to see old friends & meet some new ones.  (Don't know if we'd say we missed him, but birdrunner's absence was noted... )

Grant and I made it home to Seattle midafternoon yesterday in 90 degree heat   .

I am also alive, home and back at work. The Cascade 20 hwy was still the best ride ever but I left Winthrop early in the morning at a balmy 15C to run into a bone shaking 6C in the mountains. Finally pulled over and got all dressed up only to peel it all off an hour later. Many thanks again to our good hosts Jim, Karina, Dave and Liz. You guys are the best. Spoke way too soon.   Latest "echo ....."   showed that the bacteria that had nearly killed him, had eaten   one of his valves in the heart,  he's schedualled for open heart surgery tomorrow.
