07 Ninja 650R
I just recieved the Bestem universal 929 top case for touring. Great case for the money.  I also bought the SW-Moto rear rack for the New case. I never ride a passenger, and dont want the added weight of the rack. I could just drill holes in the stock 1 piece seat (passenger side) and install bolts and spacers between the seat pan and the given rack. I just dont know how well the seat pan would hold the top case in place. The seat is a common push hook in front, and push latch in the rear. I guess that latch would have to be the main stability to hold top case in place. I could just use the SW rack if I have to. Someone on I think ; this forum, has done this top case mounting using his back seat as mount w/o a problem. Could anyone here direct me to his site for info.  With some universal rubber grometts, i could stablize the rack. I've no problem recovering stock seat,if change mind in future.

I've done it on my FZ1.  There are details on my blog for how I did it and here are how some others have done it on bikes with a separate pass seat.

One guy did it for his ninjette and built a full wooden base.

The case is pretty stable.  My seat only has the one latch in the front with nothing for the rear, but the case is pretty stable.  The only time it moves is when you shake it and the seat wiggles a little.  I'm pretty pleased with mine except that I wish I could have mounted it straighter, I noticed it's a little to the left of center.

I plan on lowering the front seat and when I do I'll address that but for now it's perfect.
