Thanks for the share delta one.  Sad to see the building without the "Buell" sign on it.  Was there a good turnout at homecoming?

I was told that it was the best homecoming to date

350+ bikes in attendance

it was my first time going to a homecoming and I had the time of my life
there were three buellers from Australia Vamp and Chili (captioned in my photos) were two of them, and a blast to hang out with.

I gotta say between my adventure getting there
thunderstorm when I planned on leaving
lost my map before I hit Chicago
     got lost twice
     stuck in Chicago at noon
     got on the wrong highway
caught in a storm with 65+ mph gusts
followed a detour for a detour and lead me to a closed road

     made a 4-5hour trip take 11 hours

     late for the banquet
     missed registration
missed the factory ride and the Erik buell racing sale

and the people I met while I was there
     Erik Buell
     some Aussies
MANY other that were like friends I had known forever even though I had just met them that weekend
the way everybody helped and gave to one another was unlike anything I had seen before

the places we went
great scenery even though the roads were straight
     beautiful cities
     a famous restaurant
     drive in car show

it was probably the greatest vacation I have ever had in my life

I did about 850 miles between Friday morning and Sunday eve
not bad all things considering

Glad you enjoyed despite the weather/traffic problems! 'Sconsin does have curves, you just missed out on the planned rides.

I tried to ride the S1 to the Buell Racing open house, but that storm with the 65mph winds you mentioned defeated me. Lol

Thanks for the pics delta one.  I'd love to get over for it.  I can't ever seeing having the money or the time.  The other Aussie would have been buelling_bob.  He's been a few times - lucky bastard.

yea I did miss those rides...  there was one on sat morning that Char seemed to be leading but I opted to join some new friends and go get breakfast, I had missed lunch and dinner the previous day and was starving.

either way I had an incredible time
next year Ill try and take the time off to go to the whole event.

that storm was incredible!
a branch as big as the bike+me was blowing across the road at about 20-25MPH (the limb itself was about 4" across but the leaves and all made it look very imposing as it came towards me)  and nearly wiped me out, another looked as though it was going to come down on top of me out of a tree, it felt like I was leaning 15degrees just to hold a straight line down the road but it was probably more like 6.
a trampoline blew across the road nearly crashing into a car in front of me but they slammed on the brakes and it went across in front of them, the trampoline was doing about 40+MPH as it crossed the street like a sail, only the legs touched the asphalt making a high pitched banshee war cry as it went by.

I did not weather the storm out in the elements, after about 20 min I stopped at a local fire station to ask if a tornado was expected to be touching down after I noticed what looked like a funnel dropping from the sky.
I was promptly invited to take shelter in the station, I asked if I could bring my bike inside and they said of course. I was directed to the brake room and invited to use the fridge TV and whatever else I needed.  I was already overwhelmed by the kindness so I stuck to the drinking fountain down the hall. when I started to adjust my bags and get ready to hop on the road again I was told another wave was only a few minutes away and I should stay and dry off a bit.
they were right and it it get dark and windy for a bit, I talked with a few of them while I waited out the storm. they were all great guys and I was grateful to all of them.

I have to say that I had the greatest time and met the greatest people over homecoming weekend.

Wow, don't know how I missed this thread... Anyhow, missed you at homecoming as well. Here are my photos of my trip with my family from Austin, TX to East Troy WI. We had one extra Bueller on the way up.
