That was my fault for a bad hotlink on page 3. Fixed.

Why would Triumph show this bike to US dealers early last spring if they have no intentions of bringing it here? I think it is a good assumption it will be sold here.

MCN claims a 19" front wheel
for the Tiger 800 road bike. That makes things very interesting for me. I'd like to get into some dual sporting - there are some dirt roads that would be fun to take on my way to work - but I know I'll spend 90% of my time on asphalt. I was leaning towards the dirt version, but now I'm not so sure.

Triumph Tiger 800 & Tiger 800 XC - inside scoop on names
«

Kneeslider
claims to have an inside scoop on the topic:
Quote
Although the two new machines serve distinctly different purposes, with one designed to be a road-targeted model, the other a trailie, in terms of their names the two machines will only be differentiated by two letters.
The road-going model is set to simply be called the 'Tiger 800', while the off-roader is to be dubbed 'Tiger 800 XC'.
The names have been revealed in documents filed with the California Air Research Board, which has to certify the emissions of all vehicles before they're allowed to be sold in the state.
Other than the names of the bikes, the documents also show that the capacity of both versions is exactly 800cc, confirming that the engines are long-stroke versions of the firm's 675cc triple. However, the changes are significant enough for the new bikes' engines to be classed as a new “family” of motors.
...
the new Tigers' actual kerb weights should be virtually identical to a Fireblade.
....
Expect around 100bhp compared to the Daytona's 125bhp.

I'm pretty sure I want one of these bikes (if the price isn't too high), but I still don't know which one.

That's a very thin front tire! Must be the XC model.

It is. The road model doesn't have a beak, and you can see the wire spoked wheels.

There seems to be quite the hub-bub about the Triumph LIVE event, where Triumph refused to get the new Tigers out of the shipping container, and Triumph security manually deleting most peoples camera images of these bikes.

Triumph's going a bit overboard with the heavy handed tactics. Not good PR, a big turn off for me.

Not good PR? I dunno ... sounds like brilliant marketing to me. Look at all the press they will get and if the bike is good, they won't lose any customers either IMHO.

I agree it is excellent marking. I was disappointed with the Triumph Adventure website videos but it will not influence my decision to buy one. I can't believe people are actually saying all this built up hype is turning them off from the bike. Really, people can't wait until they release it this fall? When I buy a new bike it is based on what I want, then after a test ride make a decision. Could care less about how well or badly the bike was marketed. From what I know so far about this Tiger 800 it definitely fits on my short list for my next bike purchase.

It's all going to come down to fit for me. If the ergos are right, definitely putting the road version on my shortlist. Pictures tell me it might be a little tight for this 6ft'er.
Oh, I guess I have to consider price too. Usually do in most cases.

So - those bags on the ground in front of the crated bike...
A 'modular' tankbag? Like maybe it mounts directly to the tank/airbox?

Good eye, pushrod - I didn't even notice that before. It's clearly marked with the new Tiger badges too. It appears to be semi-rigid, like some aftermarket bags. I would guess the one on the table is the tank bag, and the one on the ground is a tail bag. Further down the table there appears to be Triumph badged aluminum pannier.
The "No Photos" sign on top of the crate is classic.
The accessory info is the next stuff to be released in... I think 2-weeks.

I dunno, RW - those both look like tankbags. Maybe one is the streetbike version, the other (bigger) one is the Adventure version.
Big 'aluminium' pannier, though!
