Loving the bike so far
, oh and yes the dad and I got matching bikes
.
Lucky you - both for the bike and for the riding relationship with your dad.

I fitted my Triumph heated grips yesterday and took the opportunity to "get to know" my bike .
Here we go!
Searching for my oil leak
Apparently my bike came with the optional leaky valve cover gasket option. My Dad's tiger 800 has no such issue. I was able to tq down 3 of the bolts, others were significantly snug. The bike has 199 miles on it so ill mention the leak at my first service and I'm sure they will fix her up, minor but annoying. After I finished I took the bike for a 10 minute ride and no oil appeared but I'll be keeping an eye on it.
On to the grips. Instructions printed off of
http://www.triumphinstructions.com/
Given the bike having 199 miles I changed the oil with a quality conventional and a larger
quality oil filter (Bosh 3323)
.
Triumph heated Vs. Oem grip.
Snaking the wires through the bar, very cool design.
Heated grip wiring, you can also see the cleaned up head and valve cover gasket.
This setup should keep my comfy.
Almost done, love that paint.

Shame about that leak, I hope it's fixed. Nice stripping pics.
I wonder - are those pegs standard on the road 800?

I did just under 100 miles yesterday and the leak is gone
. It was as easy as snugging up the cover bolts. While changing my dads oil yesterday at 200 miles or so I noticed that he to had the valve cover leak although less of one. Rather then pull his gas tank I'll let the dealer do it at the first service.
Thus far I'm blown away at how easy it is to toss this bike around in the twisties. The motor also continues to impress. I
ordered panniers
for the bike that should he here in mid May.

The pegs come with rubber inserts, you can remove the inserts for another inch of legroom. No need for rubber pegs on a bike with no vibes

^ I pulled those rubber inserts before I left the dealer. Not a hint of vibes without them.

Great photos, thanks. I finally got to sit on a Tiger XC this past Sunday at a rally where the Triumph Truck had shown up.
My first thought was - this feels very similar to sitting on a BMW GS. Fit and finish seem good, the handlebars are very wide, maybe wider than the Tiger 1050 (?). Overall it feels very large and substantial in size. Though somewhat lighter to take off the sidestand, it did not really feel much smaller than the 1050 (though I didn't seem them side-by-side). The bag mounts were very ugly without the bags. Pillion seat is huge. Overall it seemed it would be a comfortable ride, but I wasn't immediately drawn to it. A test ride could change my opinion, I'm sure.

Saw my first one on the road yesterday in Manhattan ... looks like a great bike for the city obstacle course. As Falconati would say, WANT.

Back from a blast down to the Ozarks. The bike now has 4800 miles on it, not horrible for the month
.
A friends driveway down in the Ozarks.
Runs on 87 octane and butterflies :evil.
On a separate note the bike has developed a slight clunk under hard braking. This can be felt through the bars but not the brake lever (not abs kicking in). Does anyone have an fsm yet that cares to comment on the headstock adjustment procedure?

I was very interested in the T8XC... it made it to the final round to lose out to something lighter, simpler, cheaper, and better off road.
